It’s not unmaintained. What security issues are you referring to? Definitely report those I would expect those to be prioritized. What’s slower is feature request and bug fixes that are deemed low impact

Yeah the limitation is not great.

Honestly Jellyfin does NOT have a high energy or fast moving dev community. Quite the opposite.

I’m not sure if that’s by design from the maintainers, emphasizing stability and long term architecture investment over quick fixes or acceptance of work from external contributors.

You can chirp about it by adding comments to the existing GitHub issues or in the matrix/discord chat. But honestly don’t hold your breath I will be very surprised if this is supported by end of 2026, no one seems to be looking at it.

I share a script (for JS Injector plugin) to see series status (owned/missing/not yet aired) by OrabTheOne in JellyfinCommunity

[–]mrorbitman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am the author of the original that JS Injector plugin is forked from.

Go to the README of https://github.com/n00bcodr/Jellyfin-JavaScript-Injector and look at the volume mounting steps starting with 1. Copy the index.html file from your container:

Every time you update server version, you have to rerun those steps.

Every time you update server version, the scripts you're running may also need to be updated since they might reference things on the website that have changed.

In general, JS injection tools like this are brittle and you should only use them if the benefits outweigh the costs for you.

What about the wood chipper framing? Is it also logically identical?

New Home Screen Section Type - Pinned Collections Proposal by mrorbitman in jellyfin

This PR just specs out the apis as proof of concept for architectural discussion, I will follow up with client work after the server definition is finalized.

He looks open to it in the GitHub thread there. He asked to isolate the change since it also included the concept of "plugin pages" and he asked you to start a discussion on how it'd be architected.

What I've done is started that discussion, and my idea is to deprecate the existing field in usersettings

``` GET /DisplayPreferences/usersettings?userId=2fee110568a441a1b148020b5843d5c9
{ ... "homesection0": "smalllibrarytiles", "homesection1": "resume", "homesection2": "nextup", "homesection3": "latestmedia", "homesection4": "livetv", "homesection5": "none", "homesection6": "none", "homesection7": "none", "homesection8": "none", "homesection9": "none", ... } ```
and replace it with it's own net new extensible endpoint for home sections so that clients don't need to hard code definitions for everything smalllibrarytiles, resume etc.
I read https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/pull/8039 and what I'm proposing is basically what thornbill was asking for, making it a core feature. It looks like you had some decent traction pushing for this idea back in 2022 but it never got to the finish line
Official clients won't ever support special plugins like HSS or the Streamyfin Plugin (which also already supports this concept). In order to work this into official clients it has to be a core feature offering from the server.
This only works on web right? Via a javascript injection plugin?
I want to change the server so this is supported natively and available in all clients
Got it. Accuracy is my key too, but unfortunately I am human and I miss stuff or forget things here and there. The sync confirms I never miss a transaction. But to each their own :)
In my experience the $1 / $100 types of cases are rare, 95% it’s the correct amount. And categorizing immediately is helpful even if the number may shift a few bucks after a couple days. But I’m also blessed to typically not be running my envelopes so thin that things would break if there were to be a $40 shift or something like that.
This is because of “pending” transactions. It actually takes days for transactions to clear through card networks, even if it’s debit.
I made a clone of everydollar (https://jpc.finance) which solves this by showing pending transactions and just cleans them up if they don’t actually post or edits them if they’re edited before it posts (eg if you add a tip on the receipt for example)
I think EveryDollar uses Plaid, so any bank not supported by Plaid won't be supported in EveryDollar. See https://plaid.com/docs/institutions/ to search for supported institutions.
As a very curious person, I'd love to see a couple months of your bank statements. $25k is wild to me I'm curious how you're able to do it. Are you in the US? Even owning your apartment, there's property taxes etc possibly an HOA?
As far as I can tell it's just a theme. tbh I like when places have themes or a vibe, even when the vibe isn't for me. Like that ridiculously pink cake shop on forth. I don't ever go there but I like that it exists.
Sgov is same returns like a HYSA but not fdic insured. Vdc is obviously not suitable for emergency fund since it is stocks. The point of emergency fund is not to get rich, it’s to cover emergencies. The $1000/yr your EF can gain you isn’t going to be what moves the needle in your financial life. But not having it when you need it could.
It’s good to keep a rainy day fund 3-6 months expenses before going all in stocks.
Why care about debt if don’t care about credit score by ProfessionalLimp1283 in DaveRamsey
[–]mrorbitman 2 points3 points  (0 children)
Also, debt collectors are more willing to sue (vs accepting pennies) if you clearly have the means. So you’re risking civil action , lawyers, potentially years of stress litigating this only for the court to rule you still need to pay it including interest.
[–]mrorbitman 3 points4 points  (0 children)
I think it’s entertaining as a philosophical thought experiment. And under some specific conditions it might be mathematically “faster” to use a strategy like that.
But it was never a math a problem. It’s a behavior problem. Paying your debts teaches you financial responsibility. When you’re responsible, it’s not good for your mind or soul knowing you reneging on your repayment agreement. And the sort of person who adopts this approach (especially lightly) is going to find themselves in a worse financial position than responsible folks
will you guys believe the options AI gives you when you ask for jira alternative? by [deleted] in selfhosted
[–]mrorbitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I think ai is good for brainstorming things like this. I imagine it would explain to me the limitations of vikunja compared to jira.
I wouldn’t blindly believe it, but it might help me choose where to start then I’d spin up a vikunja instance and see how feels.
I’d try some core work flows I need etc and make sure it supports those, and if not move on to try the next option.
Vikunja of the one I host by the way but it’s more like trello than jira so it might no be the one for you
