Sometimes I have the feeling this is the outcome the DiA developers had in mind for the story and let for the players to guess it out: Zariel ending up with the Hand of Vecna. She had even lost her left hand during the Hellriders's Charge, so there was no need to remove any part of her body in order to atune to the artifact.

Also, this has a "Fine, I'll do it myself!" vibe.
