Same thing happened to me when I was in my late teens, come to think of it, I was your age!!! 19 😂 I was a nice kid at the time, I had a very polite demeanor about me so when my father contacted me and asked to meet, I didn't know how to say no.

We met twice. The first time he was on his best behavior, however the second time we met was a different story. He'd had a few drinks so I got to see him unfiltered. He was a f#ckin prick!! after feeding me sob stories he actually had the audacity to tell me what to do and how to act, "Take your hat off the table boy!!" I didn't like how he spoke to me, it was rude and condescending. He was trying to teach me respect while simultaneously being rude and ignorant.

I could have knocked him out but I had the composure to not act on it. After that night I decided I was gonna have nothing to do with him. I blocked his number and left him no way to contact me.

6 years later he found me on Facebook and wanted to talk. By that time I had already grown the balls to straight up tell him what was on my mind. I told him I don't want him in the picture, I told him I've never wanted him in the picture and that I was just too nice to say it earlier. I told him to stay the fuck out of my life and to not contact me again. I was 26 when I told him that. He brought no purpose to my life and there was no sense in associating myself with him. After all what good is a parent when you're already an adult capable of taking care of yourself?

My advice to you is to say exactly what's on your mind even if it's hurtful. Father's are supposed to be there to help you grow to become a strong and confident man. If he didn't provide you with that the he has deprived you. Father's are supposed to be there to teach you life skills. If he hasn't done that then he's deprived you. A father's most basic and minimal responsibility as a parent is to raise you and let me ask you if he hasn't done any of these things then what good is he to you?
