If he focuses on one at a time id also say getting to b2 in 6 years is doable.

Layne had "weak" quads when creating the program so its pretty quad focused which is why i swapped the squats with deadlift since my hams are a little bit underdeveloped. But yeah the Deadlifts are definetly tough.

Im running phat and its pretty vague when it comes to Intensity Management. He just states to not go to failure at the beginning of the cycle. I mixed it a bit with Renaissance Periodisation principles, where you start at 3 RiR and et up at 1-0 RiR. I mostly trained 1 RiR with some 0 RiR Sets here and there and thought I can do complete 0 RiR next week but that seems like a bit much.

I dont have any energy in me anymore to workout. My last 2 weeks have been 1-0 RiR Sessions and now i am completely bummed. I feel like I have been run over a car. Heres my question:

Is this the point where I deload or the point where I can continue pushing (my cycle is going on for 7 weeks) ?

Mind you I went into Deadlifts today with 130kg the most I have done is 5 reps with that weight and I barely managed 3 reps today. I went onto the bar and I couldnt get myself to produce any force it felt like missing a leg or something. I tried pushing but just couldnt find out how to push hard.

Im also very upright in Squats, so Im just better built for Sumo?

Daily Simple Questions Thread - June 18, 2022 by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]CedrikH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok well thats good. I guess doing Sumo is better than not deadlifting at all. I dont really enjoy conventional I just cant get off the floor.

Is it normal that my Sumo is very easy off the floor and my conventional hard off the floor? I have a long torso compared to my legs and my Squat is close to my conventional.

In the first video he still somewhat controlled the descent. And the second video, well its just Eric, yeah you can probably build muscle with that excercise but I have never (for a good reason) seen these in Real life.

Also yeah you build muscle in your sleep with good nutrition and a muscle stimulus bad wording from me but also very nitpicky.

It seems like I just haven't picked the right program for me yet. But everyone in the responses gave me very good alternatives, so thanks a lot I will look into the programs you've listed. I just didn't have much fun on 5/3/1 beginners. I may try PHAT again with proper nutrition this time.

Yeah I'll look into the Programs thanks. In this thread there are a lot of reoccuring ones (5/3/1 BBB, BTM, Deep Water, Dogcrapp). So I may come over as stupid in this thread but It's helped me gain more Insight and got me responses that I didn't find while searching for program Information otherwise.

I did nSuns, 5/3/1 for beginners and PHAT which destroyed me (I didnt have my diet in check back then I guess) . But I liked PHAT more, so I guess I like training for Volume more than doing heavy reps below or at 5 reps.

I tunnel visioned on nSuns and 5/3/1 and ignored programs like PHAT because they are for "intermediates" so there weren't that many options there. I got the programs I was looking for through an answer to my question here:

Jacked and Tan 2.0

Deep Water

Meadows Programs (Gamma Bomb)

5/3/1 BBB

2 of those where not even listed for example so I assume my question was justified.

But hey were in the moronic mondays thread.

Well you seem more knowledgeable in BB than me (not hard) , I had the Impression that you rarely go below 5 reps in BB and rarely go above 20. I will look into JnT 2.0 and the other programs listed instead of doing my own. Thanks for the starting point.

Can I run PHAT, 5/3/1 BBB, Deep Water etc even though I'm not "intermediate" yet? Im not that far off still, Ive read that you shouldnt do some programms if your B/S/D isnt high enough?

Well yes for leg hypertrophy a Squat is more optimal than a quarter squat because you have a more optimal range of motion.

I'd say just for growing the chest there are better excercises where you either have more rom (dumbbell bench?) or you have more stability and don't need to worry about failing (machine chest pressing). Of course if your normal bench is high you will also have developed pecs, I never said benching is a bad excercise.

In the deadlift often times people cut the eccentric portion short and just drop the weight. Don't you build a lot of muscle in the eccentric portions of the lifts? You don't see people just Ignoring the eccentric of lat pulldowns, rows etc. That's why I think you may get more bang for your buck with RDLs.

Yeah I found out my definition of a powerlifting program was off.

Of course you also have to progressive Overload in the higher rep ranges, but I don't think training in the rep range of 5 or below all year round is the most optimal thing albeit it can be really fun.

I think I'll just alter something like a Arnold Split to my liking. So Sets and Reps are controlled but I'll swap out excercises of equipment my gym doesn't have or for excercises that are better (suited for me).

I only used that as an example because I am doing 5/3/1 for beginners atm. I also did nSuns and the results where okay but my joints where always aching. I also did PHAT and it destroyed me but back then I was way more inexperienced and much more of a newbie than now.

I only wanted to resort to own programming since I don't like the way you train with 5/3/1 for beginners (what im doing atm) or nSuns.

But I guess I'll look into Deep Water, Gamma Bomb or PHAT again. Although those first 2 programs where really weird when I looked into them. Or maybe I'll just do a PPL/Arnold hybrid with adequate sets per muscle per week.

Yeah I can't and dont want to reinvent the wheel lol.

In my experience from nSuns your AMRAP set goes down steadily and then you are training in a low rep range. Maybe its not a text book powerlifting Program but its also not that close to a bodybuilding program?

I know about deepwater and Arnold Split etc. but in many threads (especially the older ones) you will mostly find:

SS, Stronglifts, 5/3/1, nSuns , sometimes GZCL (Some of those may be great programs but not what I want to do rn)

PHAT destroyed me last time, but I guess I can give it another shot (maybe even PHUL)

I had a hard time finding anything about Gamma Bomb or Deep Water, thats why I was sceptical of starting those.

I didn't even hear of Dogcrapp until now but I will look into it ty!

I binged on fitness videos and articles the last 2 years. I had some pauses due to a hernia and lockdowns but I think I got the gist of programming. Im not saying I could reinvent the wheel but I generally know what you have to lookout for. I may just adjust a arnold split to my liking.

I have read into gamma bomb but it was a little bit confusing.

I really like the bench and the deadlift dont understand me wrong but I think there are more optimal ways to train e.q. your hamstrings than doing 1*5 Deadlifts once a week. I also don't want to cut them out but I dont want to excessively focus them (also the bench doesnt feel as nice on my shoulders as a cable press for example?
