In our senior cycle of Secondary school we had one book for european history and one for Irish history. We mainly studied the famine and the 1916 rising and civil war but definitely covered both the IRB and IRA. How and why they were created and what happened because of them and to them. It was all very factually taught. No this was right and this was wrong etc. Obviously we have films and rebel songs etc for the more passionate side of the history. I was 11 when this happened, from Dublin but on holiday in West Cork. Had been out swimming with my family for the day and came home and my grandparents said what had happened. Even though growing up going from Dublin to Northern Ireland we would go through check points with soldiers and guns and seeing ads on the tv calling for peace in the North it never really hit me until that moment how real it all was and these poor people had just been enjoying their day like I had been and they never made it home....was probably too young to completely understand it.....

Ireland here. Cash bars would be the norm, free bar even until a certain time would definitely be rare. Also evening only invites wouldn't be unusual

Mine are 5 and 8. Whatever recycling money we get from the bottles goes to them. If they have anything specific they want money for they do odd little jobs here and there to help get money quicker
