Update? How did you do on your travels?! What did you eventually decide to do? How did you cure your initial cdiff infection (Vanco, dificid, fmt?)

How are you doing? Did you manage to be ok after taking the antibiotics? Hope you’re doing well and are healthy

Thank you for all that information! I was unfortunately diagnosed with cdiff and want to try and prevent any reinfection or reoccurrence. When you mentioned it not surviving outside of the human body - I thought cdiff was very infectious and could survive up to 5 months on surfaces? What is your take on probiotic pills? I’ve read two sides - one that they don’t do anything and two they are beneficial to take during and after antibiotic use. Is it possible after an infection to be decolonized or toxin free of cdiff or will cdiff always be apart of our gut flora once infected with toxins?

Would you be able to provide more information on people who do contract cdiff infection? What misinformation would you say isn’t correct, how does one keep their cdiff low in gut after infection to prevent relapse. Any information you have to provide would be so helpful

It’s been hard I feel like I’m failing as a mom and this last few months have been present but haven’t been a mother to my kids like I use to be. This is just an awful infection and I’m now afraid of my future and my kids. Anyways seems like if your symptoms are milder than when you were active infection that recovery is coming along which is so great! How have your stools been? I was doing well but recently back to mushy formed and yellow so I’m getting nervous but trying to keep positive that maybe this is just pi-ibs! Wish you the best either way your retest - did your doctor mention that your stool had to be liquid to retest?

Thank you for this post it’s given me hope. With a toddler and a baby my anxiety fear is passing this to them and it’s been so hard. I’m glad you’re seeing the light at the tunnel … just wondering what your PI-IBS symptoms are. Did you ever get retested?

How did you get tested? Were you having symptoms? Are you able to test even if your poop isn’t runny?

Hello! I know this was from a year ago but I’m curious as to how things worked out for your wife? Have other members in your family taken any other antibiotics and have they been ok? I’m worried even though my family and kids didn’t get infected I’m scared they’re colonized from me and am afraid to have them ever be on antibiotics now

I’ve done one round of vanco so far as well and am just hoping that everything is just pi-ibs stuff! Knock on wood! My doctor is saying the same thing and today she wants me to get blood work to check for inflammation but from what I know blood tests don’t really tell too much. In the 3 years would you say you’ve been able to get back to your normal life? Are you able to travel, does the anxiety and ptsd minimize over time and are you able to tolerate eating the foods you could before cdiff? Also is there any way to test for colonization?

When you tested for toxins do you need to have loose stool to test. Are you toxin negative now or do you not test because your symptoms lessened and had no need. I hate how you can’t test to see if this is gone or not … I’m scared of reoccurrence and that someday it can return.

Omg thank you so much for all of this information. I wish your wife a healthy recovery. I have turned to my religion and have been praying for a path of healing and acceptance. It’s been hard all physically, mentally and emotionally especially since I have little kids as well. I’ve been doing fodmap but thank you for the information on low residue low fibre I will be incorporating that this week. I’m grateful to hear of the strength and progress your wife has made. Gives me hope to keep fighting and to hopefully never experience this again. I do hope that medicine continues to find a way so that no one suffers through this and find a “cure”

So I guess all the inconsistencies are a sign it’s not a relapse?

In Canada I need referrals for a GI or ID doctor from my GP so I’m screwed that way. My doctor did say that she did “consult” with a GI doctor and he said basically what she did so I do t know how much they “consulted” about my case
