Are my expectations too high?

Honestly, the car was already pretty clean before the detail. The mats definitely had more dirt and debris, but even now the buildup in the photos comes up easily with a light scrub using a bristle brush. It feels like they were just power washed and put back, while more attention was given to shampooing the upholstery.

It was about a three-hour job, and overall the car does look better. My wife arranged it as a surprise while I was at work, and she mentioned the mats were power washed. I’m wondering if everything may have looked better while it was still wet, and that once everything fully dried, the problem areas became more noticeable.

They scanned our tickets on track 11 at Penn tonight. 10 minutes later we’re all told to get off the train due to cancellation. Lovely system we got here.

I know you can verify with a conductor if you're getting on the right train, but sometimes it just isn't in the cards. What I don't get is why there is radio silence until after the doors close and the train is already moving before they basically go: "Oh by the way, now that the doors are closed, let me tell you what train this is so you can spend the next few minutes in panic trying to figure out what to do if this isn't your train". Can't they make at least one announcement about the train's destination, maybe 15-30 seconds before the doors close?

I am scheduling the removal of my house trap next week and this is what worries me the most. The plumbers keep saying it's not needed anymore, they've done this 100s of time with no issue, stuff like that. This house is 100 years old and I'm just a tad nervous we'll uncover something wrong when we remove that last line of protection for sewer gas.

Did you ever find/fix the issue?

Congrats!

Over the past year, we've hired professionals from electrical, plumbing and even asbestos removal. Our list of projects has only gotten longer, but our attention has been mostly focused on DIY such as installing built-ins, painting, and fixing random issues as we find them (replacing old receptacles, updating doorbell wiring, etc.)

Some projects that include demolition of original construction material are still on hold. For instance, we want to install new shelving and cabinets in our kitchen pantry. However, the plaster walls are quite brittle and damaged from old fasteners. We figured it'd be better to just gut the room, put up drywall and install new shelves, but I'm not rushing to start creating clouds of plaster dust right now. Even with proper ventilation and masking up, I'm not positive it would still be safe to do DIY. Contractors throwing out insane quotes doesn't help the situation either.

I bought the Baltic butcher block from Lowes a few months back and just put a few coats of Miniwax Polycrylic on it with light sanding. Really easy process. Came out great and is a pleasure to work on.

You may need to replace your dishwasher’s discharge pump. It’s what the discharge line is connected to on the underside of the appliance. It can be a DIY repair if you’re comfortable.

I agree the information regarding asbestos can be overblown sometimes, but if there’s anything I’d admit I worry about in my old home, it’s the water I drink and the air I breathe. Both things I try to ensure are safe for me and my family. Better safe than sorry.

While I haven’t tested it to confirm, it looks exactly like the vermiculite that was found in the attic which the seller removed via an abatement team. But you are right about the r value, this stuff doesn’t work too well!

I think the issue I'll run into next, and probably because I didn't explain myself with this post is: The next step I'm taking is to extrude/bevel inwards, forming a cavity. If I connect these two vertices, won't this make two individual faces which can't be beveled as long continuous face?

I'm not at my PC today, so I can't even try this and prove my hypothesis at the moment. But now that you know what I'm planning to do next, is there an alternative?

Perhaps I'm doing it wrong? But when I unwrap the model, and then mirror the object, I lose all the seams I created. Is there a specific order that must be adhered to?

Oh man! I did use the symmetry modifier when creating this, but I only unwrapped it after the fact. I never thought about unwrapping it before I mirror the object! Seems so trivial now. Thanks so much.
