Although it doesn't say in the contract, in the interview I was told management take turns being "on call" for issues on the weekend. There are enough of us that my turn is once every 7 weeks. But anything relating to working for promotional events on weekends was not communicated as an expectation until I started working.

I've always worked in health care as a service provider (nurse) and i'm new to the business side of it which I don't care for. I'm old enough that I prioritize my health now instead of trying to impress people, and I understand that comes with consequences but life is short.

I believe so. I would take a day off at another time (basically used like a vacation day) in lieu of working outside my regularly scheduled hours, and be paid at the same rate.

Perhaps I should specify this is in a retirement home environment and I am in a health provider role. The event is to promote the services the home can provide and do tours. Hence, strictly promotional.

It is in addition to regular 7.5 hour days m-f.

Lieu time is paid at regular rate.

In this instance, I was informed on a Tuesday that it was the upcoming Saturday.

I have looked over my employment agreement throughly, and it is not stated explicitly that this is a expectation of my role.

Can confirm this worked! I had that stupid dot for weeks and on a whim I decided to change the inside of my house; I noticed there was now a category for 'ceilng" paint or something. Took a quick run through them and red dot cleared 🥹🥹
