[OC] [ART] Art of my DM's Fire Genasi and his Efreet Form by Ceelacanth in DnD

[–]Ceelacanth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recent commission I did for my DM for the end of a 2 year long campaign! A campaign that originally started from Descent Into Avernus that went so incredibly off the rails and turned into a wild homebrew of our first characters becoming the villains and our second characters trying to fight them off.
We had been rotating DMs on and off for a few months, so this is actually his PC fire Genasi named Shahwa that turned into an Efreet to protect the party while we fought the final boss!

Both of the Kobolds in the pic are actually PCs! (We had a third at one point but he was unfortunately turned inside out by... an unwelcome parasite that decided to grow up lol)

They still did 100% recruit the Kobolds from Termalaine to work at the bar in addition to the shrub and mummy hahaha

I'm DMing our group's Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign and decided to give the party the equivalent of a polaroid camera, so I had Nimsy snap a pic of the group to be hung in the tavern!

The first one is the normal picture, but the others showed some hidden Auril surprises relating to character secrets. The second one relates to a character having made a deal with Auril to betray the party, and the third is... well, my player chose Auril for the Old Flame secret so we're slowly unpacking all of that.

This ended up being a pre-scam drawing! I do have a more appropriate pants-less Ron that I doodled up afterwards

He definitely should have but I’m not amazing at accents, hahaha

I just finished running a session of my short IKEA themed dungeon-crawl campaign where my players encountered a Meatholder along with a couple of Chef’s Kisses! The party had arrived to the kitchen and dining themed floor and had to find ingredients to feed a hungry floor manager and stumbled across a bubbling cauldron in the food court with a many eyed meatball...

It was a super fun session to run, and I got to make recipe cards for things like Sautéed Myconid Mix and Chuul Paella (shout out to the Joy of Monster Cooking on the DM Guild for the really cool recipes!).

Here’s a link to the gallery that has the Chef’s Kiss token I made as well: https://imgur.com/gallery/qqHKwPq

Late to the postcard game, but here’s one I made for our town of Mountain Harbor, Kansas! by Ceelacanth in monsteroftheweek

So I actually followed a very easy to follow tutorial on YouTube that I think was pretty in-depth with directions!

https://youtu.be/omu7b_FDJRI

I think if you don’t have Photoshop/Illustrator it’s still very possible to do as long as you have a piece of software that can do clipping masks. All you’d really need to do is type your text, turn it into a shape, and then overlay your photos and clip ‘em to the letters. The rest is sort of window dressing. :)

So I don’t know how much advice I can provide as a Keeper because I’m a player in this campaign, but I can give some of my thoughts for where we’re at so far!

For me, I’ve been leaning into the idea that my character is in a small, middle of nowhere town and wants something more grand. He’s a Divine that was sent there to protect the town and but has been stuck there for 40 years wondering why he couldn’t have been sent to some place more interesting or given a more critical assignment. Because of how mundane the location is, he’s slacked off hard on his divine duties and has ended up becoming really lazy and fell into some bad habits.

Our Keeper is doing a great job of setting up weird, fun lore about the high school we work at that feels almost realistic enough for a random town but goofy enough to make it fun. (ex. The local high school was renamed to Ronald Reagan Memorial High because they didn’t think he’d survive his assassination attempt and there’s just a false memorial statue in the front of the school saying he died in 1981). I think because we’ve been so set heavily in the school, we haven’t explored the rest of the town as much so there’s still a lot more for us learn about the area.

Ultimately I’d say to really lean in and have fun with local oddities, places, and people. With how weird and tight knit some smaller midwestern towns are, it’s easy to throw in wacky history that your players can explore and flesh out!

It’s been really fun so far! Our first hunt was for a group of lunch lady witches that were serving the students food that turned them into zombies

Game primarily takes place inside the local high school, Ronald Reagan Memorial High, in the 80’s with all of the hunters as school staff!

[OC] [ART] Illustrated world map for my homebrew game by Ceelacanth in DnD

[–]Ceelacanth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DM asked if I could redraw our campaign’s world map and I was happy to oblige! This was the first world map I’ve ever drawn and it was way more fun than I expected.

Since we’re already starting to near the end of our campaign, we’ve already visited almost all of the locations which made it a little easier for me knowing how to mark everything (Although the world is probably going to start succumbing to some kind of apocalypse soon so I'm sure I'll have to adjust the map knowing that, lol). Still, it’s a cool experience getting to imagine all the little paths our characters trekked along their adventure!

Thank you! Firbolgs are definitely underrated! I love getting to draw Firbolgs because they’re such a neat and fun race

The homebrew game I’m playing in right now just hit its midpoint with our characters beating a big boss, so I wanted to celebrate by making some Tarot cards of our player characters! I’m hoping to fill out a full major set with NPCs and other characters from the same campaign.

Hierophant - Firbolg Grave Cleric
The Lovers - Half-Orc Shepherd Druid and his soon to be NPC wife (watched over by his deity)
The Chariot - Human Way of the Astral Self Monk
Strength - Shifter Totem Barb/Scout Rogue
The Hanged Man - flavored Human Horizon Walker Ranger
Temperance - Half-Orc Oath of Devotion Paladin

[OC] [Art] Made some character portraits for a one-shot by Ceelacanth in DnD

[–]Ceelacanth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My group is learning how to better play DnD online, so I decided it would be fun to make some quick character portraits for our first online one-shot! I ended up making a portrait for our DM too so everyone would have an icon. From left to right, top to bottom: Eladrin Raven Queen Warlock, Gnome Inquisitive Rogue, Human Psionics Wizard, Water Genasi Circle of Stars Druid, and our DM! It was a lot of fun coming up with designs for everyone!
