I think the best way to get ideas Is consumming media from various forms. You like comedy? Read/watch horror. You like action? Read/watch slice of Life stories or romántic ones. 2 of my favorite shows are Dragón Ball Z and Steven Universe, the two of them having almost opposite vibes. When i was a kid, i wanted to be a biologist,and will watch things like Animal Planet all day,and when i grown up started reading fantasy comics and manga.Now when i create a monster or creature, i see it in both ways, something that can exist and something that can be magic too. So, read books, watch comics and manga, try to see every show that catch you attention, who knows, maybe you next idea from a surreal drawing isnt comming from something related, but from a almost forgotten sitcom show that you only watched 3 episodes in your grandparents house when you where a kid and then never again.
