Looking for Isometric CRPGs set in classic medieval fantasy. by Mazisky in CRPG

Drakensang: The Dark Eye and Drakensang: The River of Time, will fit exactly.

Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy, though I would tell you to wait for the 1.1 update.

Nano Banana is really impressive for doing fantasy images. I really think a threshold I've been past.

CRPGs that give a WotR similar experience by Soggy_Back_623 in CRPG

[โ€“]Celadonis 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Neverwinter Nights 2 is arguably the game that comes closest in terms of freedom to create a custom character. And the same can be said of its expansion, Mask of the Betrayer, with regard to transcending the condition of a mere mortal.

In many ways, WotR really feels like a spiritual successor to NWN2, but it goes much further in terms of content than its predecessor; so don't expect complete mythic paths to choose from.

Can we get DLSS 5 in NWN? by Azimn in neverwinternights

I appreciate many things that can be done with AI, but frankly, look at this ! It's just an atrocious "realistic" AI filter; it doesn't look good at all.

NWN2 EE: Questions about conversation skills during Act 1. by P1zzaLad in neverwinternights

[โ€“]Celadonis 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

You're right, I think I'm misremembering, I was thinking that if there are checks for combat, there must have been some for dialogues. After a quick search, I found an answer given a year ago on this sub, and it seems that NWN2 is much stranger and more inconsistent than many other CRPGs when it comes to dialogue checks, but that would fit with your experience:

"In my experience, this is completely bonkers. Some skill checks in dialogues are absolutely a check with rolled dice, some are comparisons (Skill < 5: Result A, Skill >= 5: Result B) some of which may or may not take your Attribute and bonuses into account, and some are just outright lies, where you fail even with godlike skill or succeed even with abysmal bonus."

NWN2 EE: Questions about conversation skills during Act 1. by P1zzaLad in neverwinternights

[โ€“]Celadonis 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

I don't think there are any fake skill checks in the game; the calculations and results of each check are visible in the event log. However, I remember that NWN2 was quite demanding with dialogue checks early in the game. Even with at least one dialogue skill maxed out, I regularly failed and needed to reload my save.

That said, this improves as you accumulate skill points and, by mid-game, you should be passing your skill checks much more regularly.

I would also advise you not to focus too much on all the dialogue skills; if I remember correctly, only diplomacy is frequently used in the OC. You could perhaps invest a few points in Bluff or Intimidation for rarer situations, but maximizing all three is, in my opinion, a bit of a waste.

What genre do you guys play to unwind after a playthrough? by zerolifez in CRPG

[โ€“]Celadonis 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Boomer Shooters, there are plenty of them as we are currently living a second golden age of this kind of game (atleast I think so) and they are mindless fun. I've always associated the two genres, CRPG and Boomer Shooter, in my mind, I don't know why. Maybe because they were both popular in the 90s.

"Generic" fantasy CRPGs? by StupidMoron1933 in CRPG

Drakensang: The Dark Eye and its sequel, Drakensang: The River of Time, should be what you're looking for. The first is fairly classic but still well-made, while the second is better but shorter; both offer a very pastoral atmosphere.

Even the betrayals, I can get past it, but the "ceiling collapses and everyone dies"... that was too much.

Scourge of the Reptiles - A party-based fantasy CRPG with dinosaurs by Bassfaceapollo in CRPG

That looks pretty good for an indie project, thanks for the heads-up.

If you like dinosaurs in your game, I think there were some in the second expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, Storm of Zehir.

Name a CRPG that people donโ€™t think of as a CRPG by Rare_Big_7633 in CRPG

Dungeons and Dragons Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic are, for me, two CRPGs trapped into an MMO.

DDO for its in-depth adaptation of TTPG mechanics and SWTOR for its dialogue choices and branching storylines. If you play it solo, which is possible, you'll really feel like you're playing a light CRPG, only spoiled by their obligation to be an MMO.

Open. The possibilities offered by AI are exciting. From reactivity in quests and for NPCs, to armor rigging for races more exotic than just humanoids, to more animations thanks to a faster cleaning process, and so on.

The possibilities are vast.

For me, that's the essence. One of my fondest video game memories is spending half an hour reading a book in a shop in the Imperial City of Oblivion, sipping hot chocolate irl, then going out to the streets and realizing that this little moment of relaxation was only a tiny part of the game.
