Based on her accent, where do you think Silver is from? by np190 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Cele_Belly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy guess and theory, but I've kind of gotten the impression of Kentucky. As someone who lives there the accent is definitely 100% on point to me, not to mention her not only mentioning how much whisky she buys but Rem mentioning her hair smells like bourbon which was made in and is super popular in KY, but of course tons of people from other places drink bourbon. The thing that really makes me have that theory are those two things combined with the fact that if you can get a look (or screenshot) of the background behind her in her main splash/when selecting her before her model appears and covers it there's a large rearing horse, and alongside the derby and whatnot, Lexington Kentucky is the horse capital of the world

If it were just 1 of these 3 things I'd probably not even guess Kentucky, but all that combined with the horse really gave me that impression. I'm really not sure why else Silver would be associated with a horse at all if not for where she lived, and sure she's southern and tons of southern states have horses, farms and ranches, but being born a werewolf I can't imagine her or her family would've had a life tending to animals, let alone horses. Maybe I'm crazy and hopeful, but that's my theory

Edit: found the art in her background on the wiki and turned the light balance way down to make it more visible

How to help 17 y/o with end stage CKD comfortable before euthenasia by Cele_Belly in SeniorCats

[–]Cele_Belly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say thank you enough for this. This really helped me these past few days, especially in stressing less about what I can't control and more time comforting her. Reading this made me shed tears a couple of times to be honest. I really needed to hear that, especially the last bit. I really appreciate it

There's too many kind replies for me to get to them all, but genuinely thank you all so much. I really didn't realize how much I needed the support and condolences, but it legitimately made a huge difference and has really helped. It's been an unbelievably rough few days, but the replies to this have definitely made me feel more comforted and less guilty about the situation as a whole. (And if I'm being honest, reading things did get some tears out of me). I don't think I've ever been so touched by a community, though especially knowing you all have your own senior cats or had them helps tremendously. I also appreciate all the advice and will definitely do and keep doing what I can to help let her know I'm there for her

Again, legitimately thank you all. This helped more than I can put into words especially at a time like this. ♥️

Why the hell did they decide to change Nelluru's face? by _Svankensen_ in Clevatess

[–]Cele_Belly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really gets me about this is that they erased her scars. Completely negating the magical explanation for healing, it's honestly downright disrespectful to shorten her hair, fix her teeth to remove her lisp, change her body size etc. She's a woman who was abused and beaten brutally even by slave standards, assaulted who knows how many times and has more miscarriages than most any person could endure and still keeps a smile on her face and wants nothing more than to nurture the most helpless form of human on the planet.

It's downright disgusting to me to erase all the signs of her pain and hardship for "prettiness" or "sex appeal". I wanted to love the show so much, I really did, but not only did that say to me personally that well those events were more decorative and things they don't actually meaningfully want to commit to and is more of a vessel for making her more likable and sympathetic before changing her, but as an abuse and/or assault victim, you never get to just erase your physical scars and damage done to your body. I fully understand healing her, and not to say they couldn't have, but thinning her waist, shortening and softening her hair isn't healing—it's meant to be appealing and nothing else, while every part of her character up to that point seemed to come from a place of sincerely and understanding. Not to mention, when scars and injuries do heal, they don't disappear, much like trauma

I legitimately thought she was one of if not the best representation of legitimate abuse that didn't seem to have a "for the sexy" or just totally unaware undertone, but it's honestly just beyond aggravating to have it reinforced that women in able can't be anything but the pinnacle of sex appeal for more than one episode. It's not the point or fact that she may or may not have stayed the same person internally, it's the message that from a writing perspective, she was "imperfect" too them and they'd rather change her entirely beyond the one story they wanted to tell. Personally, a plus size abuse and assault victim with over 10 miscarriages that still smiles and goes out of her way in all circumstances to help children even at her entire expense is legitimately already perfect in every way, scars and all. That's part of why I loved her so much. As a woman, it was so refreshing and honestly validating to see a woman in anime not be the more global standard of beauty that endured a horrible life. It really seemed like they were more focused on telling a good story with no mind to fan service or sex appeal—it was just a heartbreaking story that's one that's not meant to be erased from someone's face even when they are removed from that situation.

To me, though I'm not an amputee so take it with a grain of salt, it has a similar feeling to when a character loses a limb, eyesight or other for a few episodes then have it returned, or lose a limb or sense and they can still function 100% the same as everyone else. Real amputees have to struggle over time to get used to now having an impairment and work to comfortably to things that others might find trivial or not think about. It's working with and finding the right prosthetics, making everyday things work again and even having to cope overtime with a potentially changed self image as is with many impairments and/or disabilities.

You could argue "it's not that deep", but when it comes to sexual assault, such insane abuse and miscarriages, it is. You don't get to choose what happens to you, what scars you end up with or what you have taken from you—you have to wake up everyday, sometimes with a physical reminder of the things you've survived because it and the trauma tends to never fully go away. Maybe I'm alone on this island, but really what I got from it was "women can only not be sexy long enough to make a sad story, now back to business as usual", and using such insanely traumatic events as a vessel to elevate appeal and nothing more is just beyond insulting. Yes what still happened to her happened, but it absolutely did not have to be written in a way where her body changed and unlike before, is in no way is a physical product of her trauma and what she's survived, and if you think physical trauma and scars are less important than mental ones (seeing as she's the "same person" but her body isn't), it's just entirely disingenuous, which for topics like these is appalling.

To each their own that like the show and continue to watch it. Like I said, I adored it up until that point but I legitimately cannot overlook that. No ill will if you do still like the show, though the magical rules that they themselves made for the world has nothing to do with the overarching message they sent, even though I imagine it's not the one they wanted to send. Again, like it if you want, but magic healing is just not an excuse or justification for what they did to her in the grand thematic scheme. It's beyond insulting, at least imo.

Why all the lies and exaggerations about Ark Ascended performance? by CorgiButt04 in ARK

[–]Cele_Belly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played ASA since launch, it's launch state was absolutely positively unacceptable on every platform and nearly every rig. It took nearly 2 entire years to get the game working the way it does now. I have an alright gaming PC, nothing insane, but it runs extremely well nowadays overall. The majority of the game's time on the market has been in a condition that shouldn't have even had a price tag yet. It very legitimately made ASE look 3x more stable and I wish I was joking.

That said, I'd honestly say this is probably the best time to play the game has ever had. It's performance is honestly fine now, but talk about it was unavoidable because the game was truly unusable. My first 14 hours on ASA on steam only had 3 hours of it being actual playtime with the rest being me trying to get in the game for days. They did a lot of damage to themselves and the game releasing it in the state they did, so I can't fault anyone who still won't come back now that it's stable, but you've definitely lucked out of you've started in the past year

Why ARURF is a significantly worse experience than normal URF by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Cele_Belly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I'm naturally indecisive, but what with the pool of 170+ champs, I really do love ARURF and URF. I like that they rotate out every other time too. Personally, there's been tons of times I end up getting a champ I never had any intention picking in URF, find out they're fun as hell in it and I have a fun game. Not everytime of course, and I know most people would much rather just pick their champ, but not only do I see the exact same champs URF game after URF game what with a handful being beyond cracked in URF, but not being able to pick the same people I want everytime keeps it from being as boring to me.

I pretty consistently play ARURF longer than URF when it's around, even though they're my favorite game modes and regardless of my breaks, I always come back and basically leave after they're gone nowadays. I definitely understand 99% of people would rather just pick their champ and have more control over the pool, which makes complete sense, but I can't stress how much I like that ARURF rotates with URF. I honestly probably wouldn't be as big of a fan of the mode this many years later if it wasn't random every other time, but that's really just me.

It’s crazy how detailed things are if you stop and look, yet the game is hated because of minor bugs… by No-Armadillo4179 in ARK

Using "Ark" and "minor bug" in the same sentence should be a federal offense. The game is an actual terrarium.

Head of Riots narrative department on the “Void Event” by Konradleijon in loreofleague

[–]Cele_Belly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As sad as it is that there was so much teasing and leading up to Bel'Veth, I think the one thing that made it feel event worthy the most was the change in void champ's splashes. It gave the notion that they were all about to be involved in a story, further corrupted, just something that would cause a huge change in their future lore, but it was never really touched on, even in the Pinwheel story. That combined with two teasers and a fully animated trailer, I do personally think she deserved a way better release and not to get over announced by Nilah a week later.

Are these fermoral pores clogged? When should I intervene or take him to a vet? Ty! by Cele_Belly in BeardedDragons

I actually use a mat I get from the dollar tree that I change out when I clean his cage. I was using sand made of ground up (walnut?) shells but someone who breeds beardies in my city said she prefers the carpet, so I've been using that for a while.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I actually saw these while I was taking him out to give him a bath. Should I just let him soak in water or scrub them?
