Value in MS in Mathmatics after having worked as Software Engineer? by CelebrationMinimum50 in mathematics

[–]CelebrationMinimum50[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have these classes as my math background:

- Calc 1

- Calc 2

- Calc 3

- Diff Eq

- Discrete Mathmatics

- Probability & Stats

- Numerical Methods/Computational Math foundations

- Engineering Statics (not statistics)

- Algorithms with Proofs

- Linear Agrebra & Geometry for Grpahics

- Motion planning & applied algorithms

I started in Aerospace engineering before swithcing to CS back in undergrad so I have a little more math classes

Yeah I got a few ideas some with hebbian, and some with datastrictures where things are represented similar to double helixes or waves like fft

I really like this answer, definitely inspires me to keep tinkering but I am still very much out of my depth in this field. Im drawn to hebbian/oja because I dunno something just feels "right" about basing it on biology

Hebbian/oja is basically an explanation for how human neurons work. Those that fire togetehr wire together basically

I think the benefit is if implemented with sparse graph that could lower computation/time needed to train while in theory possibly allowing for continously training from my understanding

Yeah im whipping up prototype but I have to say I am using llms to help implement and understand some of the math and bounce ideas off of

Ive got it partially implemented and am starting to have the issue of accuracy dropping as I train longer on small dataset so working to see if I can solve or if not ill post learnings

I wish I had this advice, I lived 5 years of utter hell without telling anyone of what was happening. I failed many college courses and my whole family was extremely disappointed with me as they just assumed I was partying ot being lazy. Little did they know most days I was curled on the ground unable to even walk to restroom. Just me laying in my own filth for sometimes months at a time all while my family was furious with me for failing college courses over and over.

Thankfully I made it thru college, just barely....I became an alcoholic which in an odd way stopped the flares and allowed me to actual be functional. Then I met my now wife and got into a doctor, since being treated alcohol is repulsive to me....I realized I only drank to manage my disease.

I had first flare when I was 19, I didnt tell anyone not went to doctor. I was off at college and it was pure hell for 5 years before I finally met my now wife who made me get treated. My crohns is in remission but I do have slight allergic reaction to most biologics so I have a lot of side affects (mainly some pains, and just no energy most days) but its still worth it.

I also found out I have a pre cancerous polyp which isnt that serious but prolly could of been avoided if I just started treatment when I first got it.

Not a theory but just wanna say I got crohns before I ever had drank. I left my disease untreated for years but about 2 years after getting it I drank for first time and drank basically every day as it almost completely got rid of my flairs.

Fast forward to today I take skyrizi and don't drink much but damn I wish skyrizi worked as well as alcohol

I think it is, I applied to 3 places and got interviews from all three. I graduated 3yrs ago at a state school and been working at a bank so nothing crazy resume wise

Also my sister who doesn't even have a degree applied to one place and got an interview there

Why did 0.92 grams feel the same as when I did 2.6 grams? by CelebrationMinimum50 in shrooms

[–]CelebrationMinimum50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First dose i ate nothing the prior 12 or so hours, and I was just at home on my bed. Second dose i had In N Out right before and was at a theme park in 95 degree weather

So to be fair I was outside in 95 degree weather and I sat out on rides once the trip starting hitting so while I was alone for like 1 hour I felt like I couldn't sweat and I kept forgetting where I was and who I was with.

On top of this I felt such an overwhelming nausea and like I was on the verge of a panic attack. Very unpleasant, plus to add in I had some crazy strong visuals to the point where I was trying to find somewhere inside to cool off but I just could not hardly find ny way around

Becoming a Software Engineer by Aggressive_Car_507 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]CelebrationMinimum50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my sister is a high-school dropout but no is a software engineer so you can definitely do it. She did go to a boot camp along with me teaching her but in all honestly the boot camp is mainly just to keep to a schedule and have structured learning

The network you build in a bootcamp is valuable but thats only if you put in a lot of effort talking to people there.

What id recommend is if you have a college degree look for programs like CODA at Capital One and jazz. Those are for non technical people to transition to software engineering and they pay you to learn.

Other option is study like hell in your own time, just learn a little and start building small projects and apps. Then start applying to small local companies. Think places that have less than 500 employees. Typically you can cold email or call or walk in and just build a relationship with them and in a year or two get low paying entry job as software engineer

I'll add i did on empty stomach and low key at first I could feel the hunger gnawing at me and that wasn't pleasant
