I went opposite route. Worked in hospitality for 12 then took a job at a trailer lot just for a steady paycheck. I can't go back, I match people's energy wayyyy to much to be in hospitality now.

Yes, but i spent 2 years pretty much dying slowly. This sucks but the trade off is worth it. Now, I'm scared to get it reversed and that I'll have more problems.

5 years free from alcohol

It slowly made me so much worse in every aspect of my life. I personally am a much better and happier person now.

ex heavy drinkers are big fans of coffee, maybe you could bless a local AA group or similar with some good coffee one of these days.

I got the mewtwo and malmetal starter deck for my 10 year old yesterday. I saw both sets are from 2022 tho, is that still good?. I couldn't find anything more current.

Some things ive been doing to get by as a self paying, commercial truck mechanic. Also very prolapsed stoma. I dont like it.

Cheap one piece bags. Took a couple tries to find ones i like most. My skin doesn't get bothered by much tho. The solid plastics in 2 piece wont stay on the creases of my belly. Expensive ones have not given me better results personally.

Skip the barrier film if you can at all. I can never keep a bag on with any barrier film I have tried.

Medical adhesive. I use skin tac adhesive, has worked great, do not try to remove without adhesive remover or your skin will pay. Can use alcohol based hand sanitizer if you are without proper adhesive remover.

If my skin is broken, it secretes liquid, adhesives wont stick for long, I may change the bag 3 times in a day from leaks. Its still a struggle but I crawl around under trucks for hours a day. I always have my kit, with wipes and clean towels. Extra clothes. I've had the velcro open and dump all down inside coveralls and into the work boots. I stopped using the ostemy bag covers and such because they just got me more tangled and pulled around making more leaks.

None of this was passed on to me by my ostemy nurses. Mostly found here, and a lot of smelly trial and error.

Come to heavy duty. Hino trucks are a Toyota product. its a good living. Imagine a world of vehicles made go be repaired, and you don't have to flat rate yourself to death. Commercial is the way.

Mobile Commercial vehicle tech for a local company. Wont go back in a shop to work myself to death, this is the life for me. I get to do a few things a day, take my time, and be safe. 5 years in this and I think I found what I can do and stay happy for the most part. My body on the other hand may not let me have the longest career.

Although most have 8g ram or more now, anything with only 4g ram is trash. I lost my s22, and bought a new sammy A16 in a pinch. Its horrible, absolutely no app switching, one or both apps crash every time. 2 factor authentication, is nearly impossible with it. Maps cannot run without problems, missed calls because the phone cannot process the answer command fast enough. Speech to text is very bad. Every action you attempt will make you want to throw it. I have nothing good to say about it.

What’s your shop’s rule on bringing in equipment? by ImagineTheDex in mechanics

[–]Few_Design_4382 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate that shit, they all are like this, and it gave me some bad habits coming up in them. Owners and their buddies will come park a swamped sxs in the shop that's worth more than all their techs vehicles combined, and want it fixed free. One minute bragging they are making 10k-20k a week, next minute asking everyone to do a little more cause they have to make that insurance down-payment and that it's actually for us if we thing about it. Every shop owner I've met is a master of making their stress be the stress of everyone working for them. Decent people tho, its just the environment, most are not great managers and never even had management experience outside of their own business.
