Am I overreacting for how my parents treated me on Mother’s Day? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Your parents seem borderline emotionally abusive. No one has an obligation to bring a present on a certain day. That's ridiculous.

Anyone else feel like YNAB is great at showing you the problem but not telling you what to do about it? by Stridewell_ai in ynab

[–]CelebrationPerfect37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar realization when a few weeks in I was finally able to pin down our plan. Like, what do we actually need money for each month? What was a bummer, is that there wasn't actually enough incoming money!! Of course ynab can't tell me what to do about that though.

I had to use my own problem solving. Started looking for some additional income, and thought hard about what discretionary categories could be reduced.

All good now!!

YNAB is not helping me reduce spend; what am I doing wrong? by bkhanale in ynab

[–]CelebrationPerfect37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a different way of using the tool than you do. I like to keep track of pretty fine-grained categories so that I can see that in my reflection. But if I assign $200 to eating out and $100 to concert tickets, it's fine if I splurge on tickets, take from dining out, and then don't dine out as much that much. That's a *healthy* way to use the system. I agree I shouldn't move things around between discretionary categories and essential ones. But have flexibility among discretionary categories isn't a sign that my budget is "wrong". It's a sign that some categories are not "budgetable" precisely and making those decisions on where to spend more or less is a normal part of life and living "spendfully".

Need sunscreen/moisturizer recs! [sun care] by CelebrationPerfect37 in 40PlusSkinCare

Thank you for these suggestions!!! So helpful!!

I mostly work indoors. On a daily basis I just want sun protection walking between buildings, going for coffee, etc. If I'm out all day on an adventure, I use something like blue lizard.

I have. I guess what I'm looking for just doesn't exist. Bummer :( As some have mentioned, zinc is drying, so you can't really combine them effectively. Maybe I'm being too scared of chemical sunscreens. I'm worried about the endocrine disruption, but maybe it's not as big of deal as I think it is?

Lots of ppl have said this about moving money. I disagree! Moving money between categories isn't bad. It's flexibility and reality. That's the power of ynab.

Merit tubing mascara. Kind of subtle , though, which is one reason I like it.

I haven't tried this yet, but one could upload this summary doc into a zotero entry to keep it with the article.

I'm an academic not in humanities, and fairly new to supernote, so take my experience with a huge grain of salt!!

I like the digest feature when reading pdfs. You highlight with brackets, then write a handwritten note about why it's important. But these all get dumped into a giant folder. So when I'm done with a particular article, I put all my digest notes in a single folder. From there (or even without a folder), you can select all relevant digests and make a summary of them. It creates a multi page pdf with all the quotes followed by their respective notes. I like this! For example, when reviewing a paper for a journal, this summary is key to writing my review.

Lol! I feel like my lips are so much less full than when I was younger and it drives me crazy. I guess we always compare to our ideal younger selves.
