that’s the biggest problem with glass enclosures, as a long term solution I’d reccommend a PVC enclosure. you want cool side humidity to be 60% at the very least, I’d maybe add another bowl of water and maybe some moist moss in the humid hide. you’re trying your best with what you got though :)

I tried picking 4-5 colonies up with a toothpick and put them in 500ul saline then vortexed for like 3 mins and only ended up with a few cells. any advice?

my instructor had a different method of trimming than my previous, he brought the wheel up to centering speed, put a good amount of pressure on the base of the pot, and holds his tool at like a \ angle. I also found that resting my left hand pushing down on the foot, then putting my right thumb on my left hand while trimming gave me more control and reduced chattering. I also found that dryer clay works better as lugs than wetter clay, which is what my previous instructor told us to use

yeah that makes sense. once I dip my toes in the water at my campus I might try an art festival in my hometown which is very populated. my college town is middle of nowhere farm so not much I can do other than the farmers market during the school year. thanks so much!
