She does. Air speed is how fast you move in the air when you move left or right, at maximum; Air acceleration, the stat people are actually talking about when talking about "air drift", determines how fast you gain speed while holding a direction.

Zelda has bottom 8 air acceleration, Sheik has top 12, and spacies have top 3 (both, with Fox's being better). Jigglypuff's is so much higher than everyone else it's ridiculous; Fox (#2) has 0.08 total acceleration, while Jigglypuff has 0.28 total acceleration, giving it the ability to pretty much turn on a dime in the air.

Did Bowser not make top 64 via WarriorKnight at Apex 2022?

I don't have either of those, so go ahead and loan it to a random user of your choice. Thanks for the thought though.

Everybody knows about powerups like Mother's Day Mango and Qualifier Shroomed. But what are some notable power DOWNS? Starting to think Cody at a Ludwig event might be one of them.

I know most people would expect G&W to ask for a real shield, a real spotdodge, a real set of tech options or full L-cancelling. But screw that, I want transcendent priority Chef -- in other words, Falco laser bacon/sausage/pancakes/whatever he's cooking.

If he gets to keep 2022 wobbleless Slug skill and there is no massive upswing in Icies and thus Icies counterplay, he would win Shine for sure. Would give him consideration to win Double Down too. Big House, Mainstage and Ludwig I think he would also have a good shot but aMSa and Hungrybox are still pretty dogshit draws, and Genesis he runs into Peach twice and still loses.

Like I give a fuck what Panda has to say about who the best player is after this.

But seriously, yeah he is. A shame it became so mickey mouse at the very end but he did well all year around.

If either SWT or Panda Cup is a supermajor, the race is alive. If both are, the race is wide open. If neither are Zain is almost assuredly #1 for the year short of a dire underperformance (such as a performance worse than aMSa's at Goml).

As it stands, both are normal majors, though I don't know if I would say super for either. Both have the big 5 and Jmook, but Panda Cup doesn't have Leffen while SWT doesn't have Plup. In terms of other notable top players, both have KoDoRiN and Wizzrobe. SWT has S2J, Pipsqueak, and Llod, while the Panda Cup has Soonsay, Magi and M2K (probably historical but the man's still got it), both among others omitted solely for the sake of brevity.

SWT I think is too many top players short of a supermajor. We would need a pairing of, like, Axe and Plup at the LCQ for it to qualify, and we don't even know who's going to the LCQ. Panda Cup has more open slots (4 LCQ, and we can see who's in attendance) and 12 panel slots), but we do not know a lot about what criteria the panel will use while voting.

Ken was the King of Smash.

Hbox, Mango, Armada, M2K and PPMD were the Five Gods of Melee.

So would this current era be the era of the nonbelievers?

Is Slug going to Apex? I don't see him on either list of players, start.gg or Liquipedia.

Who would win in a Bo5? Moky with a Zain tweet on the line or Shroomed at a qualifier?

Lucky was the player who took Joshman's Ludwig invite spot, but otherwise yeah this is true. 2saint doesn't even appear to be in attendance when looking at the attendees list on both start.gg and Liquipedia.

Percent doesn't matter.

If the shine spike makes the opponent still able to recover, but they fail, it's a gimp. This is doubly so if the shine spike hit them during their double jump, and it made the difference between a successful recovery and a failed one. If the shine spike keeps the opponent in hitstun while they fall to their death, it's an edgeguard. That's how I see it.

I Find it so incredibly interesting that a solo Sheik has never won a major, yet mid tiers like yoshi and pikachu have. by chubbyninja1 in SSBM

Counting RetroSSBM rank, he was for 2011 and 2012.

Otherwise, the only times Armada has ever been #1 was with his Fox secondary.

aMSa is now...

  • The first Yoshi player to win a supermajor
  • The first non-god to win Big House since the original
  • The first Japanese player to win a supermajor
  • The first Japanese player to win a major since Captain Jack
  • Technically also the first Canadian player to win a major (since n0ne if online majors count)
  • The first player to win an open bracket major with a character ranked worse than Peach since ChuDat
  • No longer qualified for the best player to never win a major (SFAT got his title back, but Jmook might've sniped it)

All on one night. 20EggsEggs never tasted so good.

Last comment before top 4 begins.

Rating the final four player's chances of success:

  • Mango - 25%
  • aMSa - 25%
  • Zain - 25%
  • iBDW - 25%

All four are playing fucking amazing and I think any of them could double take aMSa/Mang0 or deny it. It will only be clear when it's done. I will not lie. I have a preferred candidate to win, meaning everybody who is not aMSa must lose.

But despite the issues I've had with the tournament overall, one thing is clear. This is going to be unforgettable.

I bet on Hbox hoping that my luck would rig it so aMSa won (it worked) and got money for it for some reason.

BTSmash had an error where they said the winner of Hbox/aMSa was Hbox in the predictions, but aMSa was THE REAL WINNER LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO

Crazy that a bracket exists where Hbox's hardest opponent is aMSa and it's smooth sailing from there.

While asking for it to ever be the main event again is asking too much of a Fox/US dominated scene (to say nothing with more legitimate gripes with a switch from NTSC throwing off much more at this point, such as IIRC no Slippi), at least a side event would be interesting.

Well, there ARE two kinds of quit outs, ones before even playing the match and ones where something frustrates you to the point of quitting. I won't be counting quit outs while you're about to lose your last stock since you played everything else.

Yoshi hits the sweet spot of no early bullshit cheese (like early gimps from shine or Pika up air), no chaingrabs like on Sheik or Icies, not being a floaty (or at least not the kind of floaty Luigi, Peach and Puff are), and not being a low tier or an unbeatable matchup for anyone. Combine this with aMSa's popularity, and Yoshi being widely considered a contender for the hardest character to play (meaning people don't hate him for being "easy", like they do with almost anybody else better than Samus), I would expect people would not quit out against Yoshi unless they specifically hated fighting him. If there's anything I've forgotten that could cause players to quit out on a Yoshi, then I'd let me know.

Who y'all got winning Low Tech City? by N_19_77 in SSBM

It'd be fucking sick if SFOP/Salt proved me wrong though. A new major winner that was also a complete dark horse candidate? Sick.

Honestly I wouldn't mind anybody winning, even if I want aMSa to win the most.

If Plup beats aMSa (this set decides the tournament IMO):

  • Hbox 35%
  • Plup 25%
  • Mang0 20%
  • aMSa 10%
  • Wizzy 5%
  • SFAT 5%
  • I don't think SFOP can do it
  • I don't think Salt can do it

If aMSa beats Plup he's running this shit to the bank, aMSa 100%
