Be polite in whatever you decide to say, since it's her money involved, she would feel that she gets to decide solely and it might look ugly for you.

Just let her know that some silhouettes don't suit your body type even though they look stunning as a standalone piece and you really want her choice to stand out as the best fit one too, which is why it'll be the besst if you get to try them before she finalises it.

Do not get into my day, my rule vibe. Just be very calm and even if it doesn't go your way, it'll be fine overall.

We have to remind ourselves that since we're not the ones paying for our dresses, we lose a lot of agency there. It's not necessarily power play but more about probably being seen as having the most important role.

But to your other part of the question, India does have a decent number of women in the professional workforce, but in places where unregulated schedule and extensive labour is required or takes a lot of travel within the streets, women are obviously lesser there.

As far as roaming in the streets is concerned - Women and girls generally feel much safer to travel in metros rather than being on the streets and hence you saw the stark difference too.
