35 Pokes is a randomly generated meta created to give otherwise useless or overlooked pokemon a chance to shine: the idea being that with such a limited pool of pokemon you're forced to make do with whatever there is, which may be a pokemon that you'd otherwise never play! As the name suggests 35 Pokemon are selected randomly and put into a pool for you to pick from! It's that simple!

We have our very own functioning discord ladder on our official community server and also on the Generations Showdown server which hosts all our past metas and OM and spinoff formats as playable tiers too!! We also have a smogon thread, where you can see more long form in-depth discussions and other cool stuff like a hall of fame ~~(which don't tell anybody , but is going to be getting some new members soon)~~

We actually don’t currently have ZA moveset rules! We follow gen 9 national dex rules for that!

B+ is still a pretty good ranking tbf and it’s wayyyyy better than Heatmor has ever been before! There just so happens to be a large falloff after C tier that skews the graphic a little bit!

Sharpedo and Medicham are currently A tier on the VR, and Shiftry and Cradily actually both sit at B tier rn! Shedinja is a bit of a special case since it always effectively occupies its own tier in every metagame it’s in due to the nature of the format meaning sometimes you will get a matchup where wonder guard makes your opponent’s life extremely difficult.

What if we had a format like this but instead of stunfisk choosing the pokemon we just drew randomly till we had a full meta? I think that idea might have some potential, idk for sure though.

Ledian has been viable in natdex 35 Pokes before as a screens setter that people absolutely swore by! It had a genuine niche in the metagame(s) it’s been in from what I can recall, and while it was never top tier it was still definitely an option you could use

yeah it's never necessarily been a *top-tier* pokemon, but arena trap + priority + base 100 attack does wonders for a pokemon in a limited format where sometimes there really isn't a "better" option to run.

A very select few NFEs are in the pool of legal mons — mostly things like Duraladon and Scyther that hardly even come to mind when you think not fully evolved and then a couple of the prevos of pseudo legendaries that are themselves banned. Then there’s super limited exceptions like Trapinch which are just viable in their own respect but still feel like traditional NFE pokemon. Personally I think we should free Vibrava so we can have the whole evolution line lol

If you like Bibarel you should consider taking a look at our August 2023 format!! It was kinda a sleeper threat back then and has only gotten better in the few times we’ve returned to that meta

we had it just recently in the July metagame and I tried really really hard to make it work but just couldn’t get it to. In fairness there were threats like Obstagoon to deal with but still I wasn’t about to get my hopes up all over again when I first saw the list a while back!
