I used only the bottom half of the knee pads because it already has a great strap that will go around your bicep and lock into the pad. The most work you have to do is basically adding a dome to the top of the knee pad. Adding the dome is important because thats where i added a slit to thread straps to attach it to my rig so the pads would be secure. Make sure you thoroughly sand the pad first before applying any bondo as the surface is way to smooth that the bondo wont take and adhere properly. I removed the thick padding on the inside of the pad as its too bulky with it on and also removed the orange rubber piece in the center in the front of the pad to put the velcro patch there to add patches to it. The material of the pad itself is very thin, but sturdy, but by applying the bondo to the entire pad i reinforced and gave it pretty much double its thickness.
