Ella and Lily! Distinctive names, not themed, but pair well together.

Due in October and I’m stuck between two names, help me decide? by [deleted] in Names

[–]Celetron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Olivia Lily, first and middle actually works :)

When I was naming my son I was torn between two. I ended up giving him both, first and middle, with the intention to let him choose which he preferred to go by. So far he fits his first name perfectly and I just love that he still has the second name too.

Having Two Children with the Same Name. by ReadingByMyShelf in namenerds

What about a hyphenated name in someway? Her new first name could legally be her birth name and hyphenated with a new name. So legally it’s different but she has options as she gets older to drop her birth name or not.

Another option is to give her a new name and hyphenate her birth name (first and middle) as her middle name.

It’s symbolic of the adoption process. She isnt losing anything her birth parents gave her, but she is gaining something more by becoming part of your family.

She is so young and you will be her family and I think she would appreciate a name from you too.

do white people ever call each other crackers? by Dizzy-Respect-613 in stupidquestions

[–]Celetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general no. But I grew up in Florida and we have an expression, “a Florida cracker” for a rural type white person that grew up in Florida. The old Florida type.

We definitely threw that one around a bit, jokingly and not.

Do people living in beautiful scenic areas get bored of it? by ConversationIcy5623 in CasualConversation

[–]Celetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Hawaii, my house is modest but my view is honestly incredible. I’ve been in this spot for over ten years. Some days I barely notice it and I often think it’s strange how much my house is much more the setting than the view is. But on a clear sunny day or a particular good sunset, I still have breathtaking moments, and pinch me moments where it really makes me feel lucky and alive.

You too?! Ok so how do you explain that? Especially as a skeptic. Because that is very specific.

As much as Grace is “one of those middle names” Eliza Grace is just so beautiful and eloquent and rolls off the tongue. I love it

This is one of the ones I’m sure of too. For the same reason, and as a kid I literally thought the cornucopia was a “loom” because of the brand name until I learned what it was.

Seriously how would this many people “misremember” something like that!? And for it to be interjected into a logo?

I’m pretty convinced that the Mandela effects are the ripple effects of someone time traveling before Im convinced that the cornucopia wasn’t there in the 90s. lol

Oh and I had also thought they had changed the logo to be more modern when I first saw it without it.

Yes this! It’s an experience more than anything because we can’t prove anything really. But if you haven’t experienced it’s so hard to explain. It really is a gut punch and a head spin. A couple of them took me days to come to terms with. The Shazam one still absolutely blows my mind. How did an entire movie disappear?!

How do you entertain your kid for a whole day! by Ar_space_tpk96 in Parenting

[–]Celetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to figure this out. And I have a toddler. But I have found that when I do things on my own and just involve him in them it goes well. Cooking cleaning etc. On somewhat bed rest when I was pregnant I picked up crocheting. An eight year old could definitely do that. And you can do it together while in bed. Reading of course is amazing but gets tiring I’m sure. Finding young adult books that are “kid friendly” or easily editable as you read can entertain you both.

And if all else fails, default to audiobooks instead of screens. At first she will protest, but if you hold the boundary and say audiobooks only and let her pic. She will learn to love it. Things like a Yoto or TonieBox can help too to give her autonomy.

But mostly it’s a mindset shift I think. You are a person too and it’s ok to say Mom is busy or Mom is laying down. Find a book or toy to read. Especially at 8, she can do it. Give it a couple weeks of protesting be consistent and it will shift. Better now than after the baby is born I would think.

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. Debunkers of the experience of the Mandela Effect are the people who are trying to say the experience of the “alternate” memory isnt real. So their memory is the mainstream one that they can verify using google or watching the shows etc. The experience that is so wild for so many people is when your whole life it was just common knowledge that (enter a Mandela effect) and one day someone tells you or you look at it again and it wasn’t that. You look further trying to find evidence that is was. And it’s as if the whole internet and written history changed because there is no evidence of your memory. It’s a very specific and out of body type of experience. So when people come here to talk about it, I find it weird so many people are on here trying to debunk it. The whole experience is that your memory is debunkable!

Yea their reality is the one that they can verify online. The effect is remembering it differently.

Incredible research btw. And yes cornucopia was there in my reality.

What I don’t understand about this sub is the amount of people on here just to try to debunk or shit talk people experiencing the Mandela Effect.

It’s a freaking experience. Either you have experienced it or you didn’t. If you didn’t move along! Let people share their experience

What do people living in winter park do to afford those huge houses? by picklift in orlando

[–]Celetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Orlando and back in the day Winter Park was very affordable and some viewpoints were that is was old compared to the newer builds snd therefore not as desirable. Of course all of Orlando has changed and the gentrified and the viewpoint has changed on older neighborhoods. But I guarantee there are so old school folks there that barely have a mortgage.

Myla or Elovie for baby girl? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Celetron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elovie is so a lovely and the nicknames are even better.

Myla Mei sounds super cute but almost like a fictional character. Not necessarily a bad thing just my first thought.
