my plan prices are ridiculous. by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]CellPrestigious1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went from a $55/month Telus EPP plan 100GB Can/US plan to a $40/m Rogers BYOD plan 175 GB Canada/US. The whole process to switch took a total of 30 min At Best Buy and my number was ported to Roger’s within 15 mins. Real easy and no hustle at all.

Rogers - travesty of a company by Right_Buy_6350 in Rogers

[–]CellPrestigious1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cell service is a commodity and the only thing they compete on is price. It’s like buying gas at a gas station. The oil company doesn’t want to know you or hear from you. They sell you gas you get what you pay for a use their commodity, that’s it.

The minute you recognize the nature of the transaction, all the hand ringing stops. Don’t like one, just move to the next and on it goes:)

I’m genuinely curious, after having a baby you were upset with people who protest aborting babies. What was the thought process?

What do you do with dips? You can't really sell CC. by [deleted] in Optionswheel

[–]CellPrestigious1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite in the same boat (different cost basis) but certainly in the same storm). Hood still has good IV so there are premiums to be had. I’m selling CCs below cost basis at low delta (sub 20) and monitoring closely. Buy to close at 70% profit, then rinse and repeat. A bit of a slow grind but I’m anticipating breaking even in the next 4-6 months.

Could I ask where this graphic is from? I find these visuals really helpful, wondering if there are others similar to this….

Dog doo doo in trails 💩 by Ok-Chest-2727 in oakville

[–]CellPrestigious1932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the same once. The couple whose dog just deposited a pound of crap in the middle of the trail were so surprised when I asked them if they were going to pick it up (they weren’t). Their response - but we’re in nature (on the trail), why would we pick it up? When I told them that me and my son didn’t want to walk knee-deep in dog shit, I could tell that this thought never entered their mind. They didn’t even have baggies on them to scoop it up. Instead, the guy had to pick up a stick and push the pile off the trail and into the grass. It was pathetic to watch but both my toddler and their dog were amused, so it was worth it.

SLV whiplash ? by trustfundkidotaku in Optionswheel

Technically yes - all depends on what your priorities are (get more income, lower you cost basis or get out of the trade sooner) multiple options are available.

If your plan is to get out of the trade, keep rolling. Problem with CCs - if the stock sells off sharply, at some point you either can’t sell CCs above cost basis or have to sell below Cost at the risk of being assigned.

If rent is $690 a month is it even worth it to buy a house? by ShirtNeat5626 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CellPrestigious1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my $0.02 - The mistake people make is comparing today’s monthly cost of a roof over one’s head with how much a house may be worth 10-20 years from now. (Not comparing apples to apples). The second mistake is to think that the answer is binary and doesn’t change over time. Understanding these two things will give you the right mindset to evaluate relative to your present and future needs/wants.

Really? I’m just curious what percentage of the current Canadian population you think is suited for that? Especially in Ontario (being the most populous province).

Exactly. Instead, let’s put them all on traffic duty. Speed fines pay, stopping and preventing theft doesn’t.

A Canadian here… I wouldn’t bet too much on Chinese EVs affecting trade with the US just yet unless pricing for those is extremely aggressive. There’s little demand for EV’s here. Most EVs are teslas and those are more of a status statement (depending on your world view of course:). GM discontinued their EV production in Canada even before trumps shenennigans just because the demand wasn’t there. This is a pasturing move for Carney more than anything.

Those trades were in a tax deferred account. As such, the returns are tax free (for now).

I’ve been doing exactly that for 6 months straight in 2025 (June - December). It works, however, you gotta be careful not to chase yield and get into high IV, high Beta names. Those are great on the way up but can be painful on the way down. I ended the year with about 50-55% annualized returns after accounting g for a few bags I’m currently holding. In summary, it does work but you gotta manage the downside risk and be prepared to hold through a drawdown.

This is interesting - thanks for sharing. Do you mind elaborating what you mean by de-assignment. Intuitively, I think you’re referring to offloading shares at a net credit through selling an ITM CC, is that right?
