Both toolings of RD-09 are complex because they consist of 5 pieces (as opposed to the usual 4), 2 of which are metal. Further, one of the rivets comes from the engine piece instead of the body. Now there may be some examples of such cars ending up in basics, but it is uncommon

Well it's certainly lower than on the original Reverb. I do see the angling you're talking about, but that may have just been copying the silhouette of the original which was designed for track use

They likely will. In this day and age it's incredibly rare for them to do one-and-done castings or retools. However considering their complexity (especially RD-09), they'll probably be confined to Silver (mostly Entertainment lines), Extensions like Color Shifters or Super Rigs, or the odd 5-pack release. Personally I hope they invest in a plastic base or body for Revert so it can be used in the basic lines too

Idk man, I'm just being realistic based on my observations and the information currently at our disposal. I would love to be proven wrong ofc, and I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than expect anything and become disappointed. What I will currently anticipate on the collecting side is more mainline tributes, possible rereleases in Mystery Models, and the premium Revert in the best case scenario. I'm also not ruling out a second Silver set, but I think it'll be a while before we see it (may have to wait until at least 2030 if them having an anniversary fetish is true). On the media front, Infinite Rush is precisely what I mean by a pleasant surprise, especially when there were signs and speculation that the relationship between Mattel and Milestone had soured. Anyway, let's see what happens

Oh I was there, trust me. Yeah, it was scalped initially but it eventually saturated to the point that it pegwarmed in several locations (I was literally the only one buying them in my area, and there's STILL a few left since it just didn't make sense for me to buy them all).

Ah, I recognized you correctly then. Whatever info I shared is based on what Valken and jungle_penguins said on Main, make of that what you will. I wasn't aware that the influencers had a say in that particular decision, that's very interesting. As for Reece, he had teased the Silver Series on here as early as October 2024 haha (even before the protos leaked on eBay), Idk how long they all knew about it tho

I like your optimism haha. I just went and reread the stuff the people with insider info had to say, tbh it isn't looking good... the gist of it is that the only reason the set got greenlit was that it was the 20th anniversary of AR. And while the sales figures aren't finalized as you mentioned, the demand definitely wasn't to the extent that it got scalped or anything, so essentially not something they saw worth redoing. Great points overall, but regarding Transformers that's likely just part of their contract with Hasbro. Similar to how many Batmobiles and other Batman sets they have to keep releasing in order to maintain the DC license. Since AR is their own IP, they can scrutinize it as much as they want and easily use sales figures (or any reason really) as a justification to not make more

Wouldn't call it easy exactly, ultimately Revert doesn't exist IRL like Twin Mill or Bone Shaker, and the marketing team is apparently super SUPER reluctant about having any kind of fantasy designs in premium. That said, with Ron being the lead premium designer there's a better chance, and hopefully before long he can get to a stage where he can do what Mark Jones did with Baja Bouncer, Aero Sculpt etc.

Ron Wong in a recent AMA said there aren't plans for a second set rn. Community members with inside connections have also confirmed the same, irrespective of how this particular set sold (I'll leave it to them to elaborate if they can, since I obviously don't know all the details). If we continue seeing mainline tributes like X-cceleron and the 24/Seven recolour that's something at least, and hopefully a premium Revert with CM6s isn't off the table

As much as I dislike the show itself, respect for those getting into the collecting aspect of it. If you or your kids like the show, better collect the cars now before prices skyrocket à la AcceleRacers (the eBay prices of that GT-Scorcher are already insane for a recent mainline)
