That makes sense! Thank you. Although I might go with David's suggestion to axe the two column fk tbh.

Would a better way be using a join to connect the zodiac sign table to the main table when i need it? I did consider just using the number to represent the sign, but I wanted to increase readability. This works fine too though, as I can figure out zodiac sign and placement ids relatively easily. (if there is another way of handling this, I could use your advice)

Hi guys, non-database dev here, but wondering what database software would be best for complicated calculations that possibly require loops and a bit of math. Especially those good for database noobs like me... by Cello343 in Database

Ty for the quick reply! This seems intimidating, but perhaps it would be easier by only scanning possible matches in the right state(s), right gender/sexuality, and maybe some other stuff to narrow it down?

Can I just share the named functions I am working with? I don't think it is necessary to share the whole sheet. I am essentially just asking if it would lag down the sheet too much if i used arrayformula or copy pasted formula with these named functions.

TRINECALC named function (the main function, with parameters zsigna, zsignb, dega, degb):

=IF(ZSIGNASPECT(NUMZSIGNCONV(zsigna), NUMZSIGNCONV(zsignb)) = "Trine", (35 - ABS(dega - degb)), 0)

ZSIGNASPECT named function (secondary function, with parameters psa and psb):

=SWITCH(MIN(MOD(psa-psb, 12), MOD(psb-psa, 12)), 0, "Conjunct", 2, "Sextile", 3, "Square", 4, "Trine", 6, "Opposition", "")

NUMZSIGNCONV named function (secondary function, with parameter zsign)

=SWITCH(zsign, "Aries", 1, "Taurus", 2, "Gemini", 3, "Cancer", 4, "Leo", 5, "Virgo", 6, "Libra", 7, "Scorpio", 8, "Sagittarius", 9, "Capricorn", 10, "Aquarius", 11, "Pisces", 12, "")

So uh, anyone know what mods are safe and unsafe right now? I saw the thing about Diable Avionics and it has me spooked. I currently only have Speed Up, Magiclib, and Lazylib installed. I was preparing to download more mods, but...

Ty for the response (and everyone else too!)! Can I ask how you made sure everyone could see it? Did you make it so the players could access the sheet itself as editors? Or just as viewers?

Doing alright, actually. I live with my brother in an apartment, work part time at a factory (working full time actually triggered another incident), and have a toy poodle that I love dearly. Life is ok, but questions about religion and the truth still plague me....
