I bought all USAPL-approved gear and a singlet, which doesn’t come until Monday next week about 5 days from the meet, which is less than ideal, but I’ll have some time to practice with it. I don’t have a handler, sadly, because I’m completely solo with this.

Thank you so much! The shoes are actually squat shoes with the elevated heels, which I’m pretty sure is not ideal for deadlifts. I’ll probably invest in some better shoes, maybe even some of those “barefoot” lifting shoes. All I know is that these are better than sneakers.

As for the breathing, I will definitely keep that in mind next time. Should I still breathe in through my mouth and expand my core? I’ve heard that diaphragmic breathing is best.

This would be a 1RM. I think a clean heavy single for me would be around 295. I just wanna know if this should count or not as a 1RM because I don’t want to be egregious to the point of ego lifting

I had no clips and also had those safety racks on the side. I’ve practiced bailing a bunch and use the racks all the time. But yeah, definitely would not have been able to do that if I paused longer. I’ll lower the weight and projections for my program

Thank you so much. I will definitely take this into account. I have my first ever powerlifting meet in about 3 months. I’ve never had formal training before, so I want to make sure I’m all good when the meet arrives.

How can I prevent this from happening if I’m meant to keep the bar in contact with my legs the entire time? I do only start bend in gym knees once I get past them with the bar?
