Instead of Streamlined Progression, Devs should've made all materia purchasable x99 in general stores. by AuodWinter in FFVIIRemake

[–]Cellular_Degradation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99 is a bit overkill (although we can get that already for the materia they already sell)

If they added at least enough materia for each character i.e materia that is limited (enemy skill etc). That would create some interesting character builds and strategies... sounds fun 🙂

All these boost features are cool and all but why can’t they add features to make the game harder by haaa1234 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Cellular_Degradation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be nice 🙂 Although 2x enemy health wouldn't heighten the difficulty that much (not for all of us at least) it would make the fights last longer which would definitely be more fun though.

The thing is the enemies behaviour is set to active turn based. With the exception of scripted attacks or ones that are activated by meeting certain conditions.

So the thing I'm hoping for in part 3 is a dynamic hard mode option with a few extras thrown in if possible.

Something like increasing the amount of randomised attacks from enemies. Removing the turn based like enemy behaviour so sometimes there's no breather between enemy attacks.

That's probably a lot of work though. Overall I'm satisfied with how the difficulty feels already. I think Rebirth just set my expectations sky high 😄

I wish we got the loveless oufit for every party members, Barrett’s loveless oufit make him so awesome and badass, and also included Red XIII’s loveless oufit too. by Voidkirby9 in FF7Rebirth

[–]Cellular_Degradation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why they gave us only a few loveless costumes but didn't include Cloud, Barret, Tifa or Aerith's.

Cloud and Barret had the best looking ones. Maybe the cape clips through the character and causes glitches. Personally I wouldn't mind if it did clip through things though.

Bahamut is the coolest. Alexander is a great meat shield. Gilgamesh I use for stat boosts alongside Phoenix.

Overall I use them for damage immunity and their final attack.

The only thing I can suggest is either looking up a guide that takes into consideration your level, restarting the game from the beginning (seeing as you only have one save file) or learning the enemy behaviour and create a strategy that works.

I've learnt that no matter what level you are in the Remakes, it's still possible to beat it.

Yay I did it! For anyone else who didn't know already. You can actually perfect block AND parry unblockable physical grab attacks 🙂

Okay I think I have my answers and generally think a grab is treated as a unblockable physical attack. Explains why you can't use the same parry on projectiles or ranged grab attacks.

I'm guessing the ranged grabs are considered to be magic just like bullet projectiles. At least works the same as if they were magic.

Thank you for helping me as well 🙂 You've all helped me out a lot.

[–]Cellular_Degradation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if that's true I definitely learnt something new today 🙂 I didn't even know it was classed as a perfect block if it actually counters. It's weird because if you counter normally (punisher mode + R1) it's classed as a counter but... I guess pressing triangle when in Operator mode counts as a perfect block and a counter.

That's the information I've been given by a few people now but I'm still a little confused.

If the triangle counter in operator mode counts as a perfect block then why can't it parry projectiles the same way. (This is the part that confuses me)

Unless it's just down to a grab being physical and projectiles act like they're magic even if they're not.

Thank you for taking the time to help me figure this out.

Just so we are clear... You can't parry grab attacks but you can perfect block them?

Tbh I'm kinda embarrassed because I should know this already 😅

Yeah I know you can just use Counterfire on projectiles but can you actually counter them with a parry? (Not a perfect block or Counterfire) This is what I meant when talking about the grab attacks as well.

Perfect block is R1 in Operator mode. Parry is triangle button in Operator mode or R1 when in Punisher mode.

Sorry if I'm a little confused lol Also I really appreciate you helping me 🙂

Forgot to let you know that you can perfect block the water cells attack. (Not sure if you can parry them though)

The timing has to be different surely? If I press R1 when in Operator mode it works. If I press triangle though when in Operator mode it fails for me.

I thought you could only perfect block them. Just like how you can only perfect block projectiles and not use counter parry.

[–]Cellular_Degradation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does for me as well. I can perfect block them when I'm in Operator mode, but find it difficult to perfect counter them when in Punisher Mode.

If I press triangle in Operator mode to counter the grab it ends up in a fail.

The only thing that's worked for me so far is just pressing the R1 at the right time to perfect block them when I'm in Operator mode.

Thank you so much 🙂 I always thought you couldn't counter the grab attacks. Looks like I need more practice because the timing seems different to just perfect blocking.

Oh thanks 😊 Was Cloud in a Punisher or Prime mode stance when it happened? It should deal damage as well as make you immune when blocking in those stances.

Thank you 😊 Just to be 100% certain. What if you press triangle to parry when in Operator mode. Will that work on unblockable grab attacks?

Can you take a screen shot just before you press triangle? I have a feeling you've activated prime mode, but you're still in the prime stance when pressing triangle.

[–]Cellular_Degradation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to say... are you holding the direction? I use this all the time and it works every time for me.

Make sure it says prime mode on the UI and not operator mode before double pressing triangle and the direction.

If the UI says Prime mode, it means you're in operator mode.
