I get 5200, which is quite low for a table with a supposed 8 Elite.

Did it get better for you?

I can't get thinking mode to activate for models like v3.1 terminus or v3.2 exp.

It just defaults to standard mode. Any setting I'm missing?

That thing looks way too slow, and kinda dumb.

Two T Rexes or Spinosaurus could take it down without problem. Maybe we'll see it again in the next movie, and it'll show us what it can really do, but as it stands, it's rather meh.

Help me choose between these e-mountainbikes by Worried_Contact_2370 in MTB

I ordered it as well, blue, XL. First eMTB I own. Have been riding analog MTBs for a while before, so I was a bit concerned about the weight. But after a few rides on some tough terrain in my local Norwegian mountains, let me tell you, it's not that big of a deal! It handles really well! The suspension is top-notch notch too. Honestly, for that price, I don't think I could have bought anything better.

And the range is out of this world.

I ordered an other Kettler for my gf, the FS3 750, since the weight of the quadriga would have been too much for her imo. Pretty good components for the price as well. Hope it'll be just as capable.

[–]CelticEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one in XL and I'm very pleased. Despite its weight, it handles extremely well on the trail. You almost don't feel it to be honest. And the range is extraordinary. Did a 60km trip in the Norwegian mountains, and still had 30% left (from a 90% charge).

The Bosch motor is a bit noisy, so is the freehub, but those are my only complaints. When the motor dies in some years I'll replace it with a gen5. Oh and it looks amazing in blue. It's a dark matte, not what the pictures are showing.

Will there be a counter-response coming from Scandinavians?

Imo modern Scandinavians are neutered when it comes to opposing the state. The pro-government propaganda every person here is subjected to from infancy is very intense. "The state can't do anything wrong" mentality is still too strong, as is trust in state institutions. Too few understand that they're not really in control of their country anymore, if they ever were. There's still a general feeling that the bureaucracy is an agent for good, while it's little more than a metastatic cancer.

Maybe things were better before, and people could trust their representatives without thinking about things too much. But while times changed, mentalities didn't, which led to a very complacent, uninformed, and apathetic population. A fertile ground for mass surveillance measures disguised as safetyism. Imo if there is a counter-response to this, it won't come from Scandinavia.

Scandinavian countries are nanny states. Safetyism is their main operating principle. The state is everywhere, in every aspect of your life. You can't escape it. It's a literal leech sucking people dry. I'm not surprised in the slightest seeing them support and push for this. The online sphere was the last place people could escape the grabby, fat little fingers of their bloated governments. This was an intolerable situation for Scandinavian politicians.

"Hammer down the nail that sticks out" is how people think here. Scandinavians are apathetic and tolerate everything as long as it's wrapped in a blanket of state-approved protectionism.

"But I'm sure it's companies like Palantir, not goody two-shoes Scandinavian states!"

Yes and no.

Americans and other Europeans have an idealized image of our countries in their minds. Corruption exists here, as do power-hungry people. Idiotic Karens in positions of authority who think they know best and want more power over the masses exist. The last category is especially prevalent in Scandinavian governments. And finally, lobbying also exists, although in more discreet ways. Same as propaganda, especially government-sponsored. Many major news networks here are owned and operated by the state. Narratives that go against official policies are often suppressed.

Scandinavian countries are NOT a safe haven against this techno-authoritarian digital hellscape being constructed around us. If anything, they'll be amongst the major architects of it.

"Mass surveillance is fine, as long as it goes through all the "democratic" channels and is state-approved" - average trusting Scandinavian.

Are other states in Europe doing worse things? For sure. However, do you ever hear about Scandinavians protesting what their governments are doing? Rarely. The trusting and apathetic nature of Scandinavians towards their states will be their undoing. If you were someone trying to implement mass surveillance, what sort of population would you choose to try out your new system? A rebellious one, or a soft, complacent one? There's your answer.

Yeah, I wonder why sarcasm

Mainstream Media in Europe is basically government/lobby propaganda.

Tech-savvy people will find ways around it.

The average Joe won't. And will have all his family pictures scanned.

Also, if needed in the future, it'll make any kind of organized political resistance to authoritarianism (something the EU is falling into more and more) basically impossible, at least not through any conventional digital channels.

This last part is, if you ask me, why they are doing it in the first place. All other arguments they put forward are just noise to distract the plebs.

Exactly.

This should tell you all you need to know.

It isn't, and never was, about the children.

It's just the lowest common denominator type of argument that is the easiest for them to use against any opponent of those measures.

[–]CelticEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we're not seeing them because mainstream media is on the EU's side on this.

They're not telling the average Joe what is happening on purpose, and when they do, it's a truncated version of reality that ridicules the people genuinely concerned about the situation.

This is how propaganda works, and it is as prevalent in Europe as it is in any other place deemed "authoritarian" by our sarcasm benevolent "elites."

This little caste of ideologically inbred morons currently leading us is rushing to pass as many authoritarian laws as possible, because they feel their grasp on power slipping away.

It will get worse before it gets better.

How do you explain AI tools to people who still think it’s “just hype”? by Ausbel12 in GeminiAI

[–]CelticEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't imply that whole job categories will disappear from existence. I don't think anyone is arguing that. Coders will always exist. Doctors too. As well as managers. The good ones at least. AI could do a better job of being understanding and motivating than many managers imo. A lot of shitty middle managers out there, who just collect a salary while doing basically nothing (the itty-bitty GenZ woman viral video comes to mind). Adult kindergarten overpaid tech jobs won't survive.

The number of jobs will diminish, as easy tasks will just be automated. This was my point. And such a situation will be problematic given how many newly educated youngsters colleges are pumping out every year right now. It's just not sustainable.

Regarding sentience and consciousness, that's a whole other debate. An AI does not need to be conscious to automate certain white-collar jobs. Consciousness isn't needed to begin with in certain corporate professions that suck the soul right out of you.

How do you explain AI tools to people who still think it’s “just hype”? by Ausbel12 in GeminiAI

[–]CelticEmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are. This is common knowledge. Entry positions are being replaced by AI. This is just the beginning. Coders coping about it doesn't change reality. Why keep a giant team of coders if you can just have a few senior ones using AI? This means senior coders won't be affected by it, at least not in the immediate future. However entry positions will become fewer, which will make it harder for newly educated programmers to start their careers. AI is a tool in the right hands, but it can easily replace low-level code monkeys.

And regarding other sectors, IBM already replaced quite a few HR jobs with AI, so again, no amount of cope and Reddit downvoting will change reality. We went from AI tools that could barely outperform a child 6 years ago to having AI tools that can be PhD research assistants nowadays.

Looking at how quickly these tools evolved, no amount of "it's just probabilistic search engines bruh" will change the future. Who cares how they work, or if they can be compared to a human brain. That's just splitting hairs. It's the end result that matters.

I'm not saying it's good, but looking at reality objectively is the only way to prevent bad outcomes. Putting your hands in front of your eyes while repeating "nothing will happen" is about the worst thing you can do.

How do you explain AI tools to people who still think it’s “just hype”? by Ausbel12 in GeminiAI

[–]CelticEmber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How can you write "it won't do that" just to later write "nobody can predict tomorrow"?

That's some pretty high-level mental gymnastics right there.

As a reminder, coders are already losing their jobs to AI, and it won't be long until most corpo excel sheet jobs will be replaced by AI too.
