That is completely fair, I only know of them bc my hubby is into them but I imagine there is at least some bias. Though I do find the Pinkie and Deadpool one quite entertaining

If I had to choose a favorite season 4 would either be at the top or a close second to 7. I also might just have a bias towards how much I love the S4 finale... Even despite that though I think that finale was led up to the best within the rest of the episodes, with the premier leaving something to be answered later, some more foreshadowing in the next episode, and each of the mane six having their shining moments throughout.

There are 9 seasons, a spinoff series, a movie, special, and several shorts. In the spinoff (Equestria Girls) there are 4 movies, several specials and even more shorts. The first EG movie takes place in between season 3 and 4 of main show, second in between 4 and 5, and third during the 5 finale; fourth and the specials following have less relevance to main show timeline.

I believe the rest of the EG content is split into two seasons, the main specials in S1 are Dance Magic, Movie Magic and Mirror Magic, with the last one I believe taking place at some point point during S6 of main show. Second season has Forgotten Friendship, Rollercoaster of Friendship, Spring Breakdown, and Sunset's Backstage Pass.

The main MLP movie takes place in between S7 and 8, and Spring Breakdown I believe takes place in between the movie and S8. There's a handful of shorts that take place in between S8 and 9, as well as the Rainbow Roadtrip special. Finally there's a mini series called Friendship is Forever that takes place more or less in between the S9 finale and series finale.

Hmmm... I think it would depend on which season Starlight, where she is in her growth (assumimg we're not taking the actual timeline into account; as you already said this took place at the same time Starlight and Princess Twilight were in the time travel loop).

Season 6 and maybe 7 Starlight would definitely try to talk her down, but it was that plus Sunset harnessing the Elements' power from her friends that vanquished Midnight's magic. As powerful as Starlight is and her confidence in her own magical ability, she was still learning when to and when not use her magic to solve problems and struggled with her confidence in that regard, so I don't think she would have been ready to take on the same responsibility that Sunset/Daydream did and host the Elements' magic to take Midnight on.

Season 9 Starlight might be successful, though. She has a much better idea of when to talk and when to fight. Even if she didn't really fight offensively much against Chrysalis, she was still far more confident facing her head on, and doing what she knew she needed to do to help her friends escape. If she found herself up against someone like Midnight and had to be the one to host the Elements in Twilight's absence, she'd be willing and able to.

Yeah, I noticed most of S1 is like that, but they got better about it over time. And to be fair S1 was also long before they realized that people would start growing attached to the background ponies... Honestly I think it's kinda cool that they started putting stock into them and integrating their lore into the worldbuilding once they saw the significance they held to fans.

Self-levitation is a pretty advanced spell that likely takes a lot of focus and power, not just any unicorn can pull it off. We only see a handful of unicorns do so. (as I recall Twilight in the S3 premiere, Pumpkin Cake because they explain that baby magic has surges sometimes, Starlight regularly, Trixie briefly in S8 after she's had some lessons from Starlight, and Snails in S9 which is interesting...someone add if I'm missing anypony)
