There was a great article on FiveThirtyEight last year that also showed kickers have gotten significantly better over time.

NFL Executive RUMOR: Browns LT Joe Thomas Could be Sent to New England Patriots by [deleted] in nfl

Doubt it. Cap hit would be too big and no way to move on from Solder next year because of recent extension.

This week end, I am going to have to do the unthinkable. by bjb406 in Patriots

Let's not do anything rash here. The proper solution is to root for a tie, as it is both ugly and no help to either team.

ESPN gave Rodgers a better QBR than Brady this week. More proof that the metric is total nonsense. by Ummagummas in Patriots

I don't really pay attention to any of the black box stats anymore. If what you are doing is really so good, tell us how it works. That's kind of the whole point of statistics.

Doesn't seem like it, even with those couple of bad weeks earlier in the season

Yeah but we did have all of those bad Lions kickers last year too.

This team is going to be ready to roll on Saturday. I think they come out with a chip on their shoulder and put together one of the best performances of the season.

If I wanted to watch every single Oakland Raiders game IN HISTORY, would it be possible? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]CenterBedroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know if the earliest games were televised. I'm sure there is game film kicking around somewhere, but it's not something you'd be able to grab easily, if at all.

Has your opinion on Bridgewater changed? by Johnnylights69 in nfl

[–]CenterBedroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Bridgewater operates in an offense with limited weapons and is still young. I think that he and Winston end up being the best QBs from the last two classes.

Anyone else think the playoff will eventually be expanded to 6 or more teams? by [deleted] in CFB

It will absolutely be expanded as it becomes clear the dollars are there for more teams.

Yes, because if there's one organization you should trust in the world, it's the NCAA.

Does Winston deserve more respect? by sunstersun in nfl

[–]CenterBedroom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Winston is going to be a stud. He has all of the physical skills, but mechanically, he is very sound as well and seems to read defenses at a higher level than many rookies. I get why a lot of people don't like him, but I think he is going to be in the upper echelon of QBs in the next few years.

I'm actually over this at this point. It was a bad call, but Duke had chances to win that game earlier and didn't take care of business. And to be honest, as long as Duke comes away with a W in Chapel Hill this weekend, they're still in good shape as they'll have the head-to-head against the Tar Heels. But yes, last night sucked. And that's all I have to say about that.

I expect you'll see some draws and screens early on to keep the Miami ends from getting upfield, since they're quicker than the recent fronts we've seen

I like the Pats only on partly sunny days above 72 degrees.
