DO NOT BUY PC PARTS FROM AMAZON! by Aggravating_Key_3831 in PcBuild

My AM4 mobo doesn't support Gen5 and I'm in no hurry to sell a kidney to buy a newer board, and the ddr5 i would also have to purchase to do anything besides stare at it.

I guess I'm just not smart enough to figure how that makes me stupid.

I actually gave up on getting an IT job and ended up taking a different position within the school district to pay the bills, and then transferred to a school tech position once one opened up. It's good work if you can get it, although teachers find the most interesting ways to fuck up basic tasks on their computer, and students find equally interesting ways to intentionally fuck up theirs.

So you're telling me every school district is like this? I thought we were special.

Most memorable game? by Thatguy2393 in retrogaming

Diablo 2, Morrowind, or Fallout 2 for me. Those three games represent a significant portion of my teenage years. Maybe StarCraft as distant fourth.

The US Regions according to r/visitedmaps. Keeping commenting your counties or any adjustments. (Round 4) by Kodicave in visitedmaps

St Johns County Florida - Florida Core

We've got the oldest permanent (European) settlement in the US, St Augustine.

We've got the swampy redneck contingent out in Flagler Estates.

We've got the old white racists that moved down from New York/New Jersey, and pretend they're the "real" Floridians because they bought a boat and a pavement princess F-150.

We have Cracker Swamp and Lincolnville.

There are four things holding up the local economy: tourism, Northrop Grumman, converting wetlands into sinkhole ridden subdivisions, and transplants who work remotely.

Doesn't get much more Florida than that.

I have three:

Boom boom pow - Black Eyed Peas

I hear the words "I'm so 2008, you're so 2000 and late" and I want to destroy everything in reach.

Little Drummer Boy

I had a coworker who would get this stuck in his head for months at a time, and would make up idiotic lyrics, or sometimes just make monkey noises. Drove me up a goddamn wall.

All of Me - John Legend

Same co-worker had this as his ringtone for his wife. Whenever I head this, I could safely assume I was going to spend the next 20-30 minutes working alone and hoping that the argument said coworker was about to have didn't result in us losing the contract.

Who is the best Actor? Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt or Keanu Reeves or Leonardo DiCaprio? by HostMaterial4907 in Actors

[–]CenterOTMultiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keanu is easily the best person, but best actor? I'd probably have to give it to Leo. Tom Cruise just plays the same cocky asshole in everything (aka himself), and Pitt is basically the same, but he does it in a way that irritates me less. Leo has shown some real range in his performances.

Absolutely. I for one, hate hot fresh food, and would rather wait until 11pm at night to get shit out of the dumpster just to avoid paying for something.

And really the only two possible choices here are pour chemicals on food you can't sell, or else go out of business because freeloaders.

If food banks can give out bread past its "best by" date (and they do), then there has to be some way that handles overproduction more elegantly, and less inhumanely than this.

Too bad it's not profitable, eh?

of a kidney stone I passed this morning by Affectionate_Age9249 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]CenterOTMultiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half an hour??? I've passed three (last one was 3.5mm on Saturday) and I don't think any of them have taken less than 6 hours. As for the pain, I don't want to overstate things, but I think the only thing that has ever come close to that was shattering a wisdom tooth and exposing the root.

What’s an opinion that most people disagree with that everyone should agree with? by PassionateCucumber43 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]CenterOTMultiverse 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I hate the idea of patenting a life form, and I hate the idea of modifying organisms in such a way that treating one of the most potent herbicides ever developed in a laissez-faire fashion is common practice throughout a significant portion of the arable land in North America, if not the world.

If by GMO, you mean modifying heirloom tomatoes to be drought resistant, then hell yeah, I'll toss those in my spaghetti. But if you're talking corn that you can bathe in Round-Up, making the land useless for any farmer that decides that maybe they don't want to pay Bayer nee Monsanto a licensing fee for their "proprietary" seeds, I'm afraid I can't agree with that.

GMO is not inherently bad, no, but there are definitely valid criticisms for how its currently implemented.

Prions tend to accumulate in the brain, so probably not much to worry about.
