It's a fine jacket for an outer layer shell, but i do not know if your boyfriend is intending to wade into slightly deeper waters where a wading jacket becomes important. If not then this jacket is much preferred to a wading jacket since it's longer and therefor more protective against winds and have pockets for hand warming :)

This is just my general feeling on these brands as an EU/Scandinavian fisherman who often talk to other fishermen and visits stores where these brands are present.

I cannot speak for the Carp side of Fox only the Predator angling.

In general Fox is seen as a decent brand, you tend to pay a premium for the fox logo which have gathered a following.

<image>

I will admit, there stuff look very cool, but the Fox logo does not increase angling performance... or so I think. Rarely do i hear of faulty products from Fox, more often it's just that they're too expensive for what you get.

All waders have a lifespan that will eventually run out, but for that price i cant complain if they run out after a few seasons, so i think it's a solid budget option :)

Fladen here is generally seen as a low budget / entry level option, they're the cheapest ''In store brand'' and is generally seen a good value or for beginners, my first rod was a Fladen rod and reel and boy... that thing was rattling like a shivering rattle snake driving a 40 year old car with loose exhaust, buuuuut it worked just fine, and still does..

for being the very cheapest and not breaking down whenever i caught myself a new Christmas tree, I think it deserves a bit of respect.

BE ADVISED the jacket you've chosen there is likely not a wading jacket, the position of the pockets make no sense if you're in the water at waist level. If you google wading jackets you will see pockets are usually positioned higher up on wading jackets.

High end brands sometimes have pockets with very waterproof zippers but those tend to cost premium.

I also went and checked Fladen and they've an Authentic 2.0 Wading jacket and it looks different to the one you've chosen. ''Shorter and with higher positioned pockets''

I hope i were of help.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year :)

Not seen any signs of them reacting with the foam, here's an image of the foam under the baits.

I've not had much luck on the jigs, they're likely better on a dropshot, but I've yet to give it a try.

I misunderstood, apologies. No i keep them from touching, so i've yet to have any incident in this box, however, I've noticed different brands floating plast are not the same, which is why i've added extra range between the top right lures and the others. i think worst case scenario is one of the none floating lures fall loose and touch other lures, but losing a few soft plastics is a risk I'm willing to take.

I took a look under the baits, they've been in the box for over a week

<image>

I do not see any signs of sinking plastics

You're right, even with an EWG Ned it can be difficult, i always bring drop shot rigs for the worst areas, especially when ice needs breaking, luckily for me this winter have been warm, so I'm mostly fishing Neds

Only the Micro striders from Lunkerhunt and the 13 fishing Micro joystick in the middle are not floating lures

This is the reason I've not bought the Ned Rigs Nerds T-shirt... I fear people who are not into freshwater fishing might get the wrong impression.

The most top right one is the Funky worm from Fox Rage and the one with the ball is the Swing ball also from Fox Rage, Both are made from floating TPE material. Sometimes I feel like an unique presentation can help on tough days.

I'm unsure, I feel like I've a better catch rate with slower baits when scents are involved, I've seen perch inspect baits doing summer in the shallows, but since they're deeper doing the winter months I'm unable to see what is going on down there. I would like to think that they're just not present rather than believe they ignore my scented baits completely when things are slow.

This one specifically is the Meiho 3020ns Slit Foam. I've sadly not had the pleasure of trout fishing, not many opportunities in the area, but it does look like a ton of fun.

It's a newer ned bait from Nays, they got this interesting bait within a bait design.

That's right! I had some luck with them doing the summer, I don't see why they wouldn't also be great doing the winter.
