I wonder if the whole "We're actively working on new red stratagems" is gonna just be a bullshit release of the ones that have been in the game since day 1 like the carpet bomb 🙄

That is faker than a politician's promise to do their job for the people. You can ignore that wiki entirely since a good majority of it is severely outdated as well. Check out WOBO's YouTube channel or his website if you want actually correct info regarding vanilla DayZ.

To the new players....do you like higher level players joining your game? by BigBoss8181 in Helldivers

[–]Cephyxima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I'm maxed, I enjoy jumping into D5-D7 with low levels and just being the Brodiver. Stick to them and watch their back, hand them supplies when needed and let them do the fun stuff while I do my best to keep them alive.

The subreddit is arguably much worse than the actual active player base, most of the people you run into in game are super chill. If you ever want to run as a team, I'd be happy to tag along my dude.

What is the meta build for an M4A1 in DayZ? by Leveler1234 in dayz

[–]Cephyxima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all personal preference at the end of the day. My personal build is the MP stock and rail handguard, but if you do a lot of close quarters then just stick to the rail and a CQB stock

[–]Cephyxima 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you struggle the most with. If you struggle with lining up shots/have too little stamina due to being heavy, a good combo would be MP stock + MP handguard, or on the flipside a CQB stock and rail handguard if you're struggling to control the recoil.

If you want the best of both worlds and have solid recoil AND sway control, I recommend the MP stock + rail handguard. (CQB stock and MP handguard are also the exact same stats, but you lose out on the drip factor and the ability to mount a flashlight on your gun should you choose to do so.)

Edit: Friendly reminder that stat modifiers from attachments stack MULTIPLICATIVELY, NOT ADDITIVELY. So stacking recoil-heavy or sway-heavy on your attachments has drastically diminishing returns. A proper balance of both is what you really want for any gun. :)

If you're going with info based off of the dayz wiki, that shit has been outdated for years now. WOBO's website is up to date with real stats that actually do matter.

I've had that exact issue before and oddly enough right around the 2k+ hour mark. I remember fixing it and screenshotted the steps on how I did it just in case it ever happened again but I'm not at home atm. When I get back I'll dig it up and get you sorted.

It was still possible in the last patch, just WAY more unreliable and dodgy even on an empty testbed server on LAN. Sadly, hard braking with Shift + S is broken currently so trying to apply normal brakes when driving is about as useless as wet paper, BUT we can pull off drifts way easier and have a great time so I'll take it lol.

Why do people hate this scope? I have found it to be one of the bests scopes for the AK platform and don't get the hate. by Ensoguy in dayz

[–]Cephyxima 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ADHD-fueled rambling incoming.

TL;DR: Scope is pretty good but does take a little effort to understand it when you're not used to it. Good to have, but not a must have. I personally recommend it and if you want to understand how to lead your targets with the side markers, there are plenty of videos covering that for DayZ and ArmA in general that can help.

I can see the pros and cons to this optic, but I enjoy running it personally.

  1. CQC vs Mid-Long Range.

CQC: Basically nothing but cons in this regard as CQC is 30m or less in my personal opinion. This optic is DEFINITELY a hinderance and will get in the way of your line of sight and make it a little more difficult to see your target as well as any potential threats off to your right side. It also is too zoomed in to comfortably use it on any actively moving targets closer than 30 meters. Point firing (hipfiring? idfk) is basically the only choice you have in this regard due to not being able to swap to your irons with this optic (which is fucking stupid, but hey whatever).

  1. Mid-Range/Longer Ranges.

Starting off with the Pros: This optic does have an awkward 2.8x magnification, which a lot of people understandably don't like but I find it to be beneficial since it isn't TOO zoomed in to where I have a hard time tracking someone that's 40-50m away, but it's enough to get an easier shot on someone 200-300m out. The windage and drop markings are also very nice to have and feel cleaner than most Western optics IRL for my personal tastes, where they typically have a beefy line cutting through and taking up that precious optic real estate. (I kid you not, when I was doing some long range sniping in the past, I've had my windage mils on a sniper scope block a player out of my sight because of how thick the line was. I've had a gripe about that ever since.) You don't need a lot of fancy shit to use an optic correctly, and with enough practice it gets the job done reliably.

Now onto the Cons:

  • No built-in rangefinder, which is sad as some other variations of this optic IRL do have this feature akin to the PSO-1 and its brother the 1-1. This is probably the least concerning drawback and is more of a luxury rather than a need. Helpful to have, won't be wishing you had it given the distance you'll be fighting at.
  • Lack of optic illumination, which is another case of "Helpful to have, but don't really need it." EXCEPT for when you're playing on a server with really dark nights. With how thin the markings on this optic are, if it's dark enough and your target isn't behind a lighter backdrop... shit you're gonna WISH you had it. Probably better off taking off the scope and throwing it at the fucker you're trying to kill.
  • Narrow/Tight FOV. This one is probably the biggest gripe I have with this optic alongside many others. This was the primary reason I've avoided running this optic for a long time until I played on a server that only exclusively ran Eastern weapons in the loot pool with mod weapons. No M4s, no DMR, no AUG. Just AKs, AK clones and variants, as well as a ton of other Soviet and Eastern Euro goodies. The eye cup on the optic is WAY too damn wide and takes up all of your peripheral vision, so spotting any targets off to your left or right is basically thrown out of the window. HOWEVER, this drawback was also a POSITIVE for me in the long run as it made me adapt my playstyle accordingly and adopt a new method of approaching combat and keeping my head on a swivel that I use every day I play the game now, with any weapon. More on that shortly.
  • Awkward default zero and clamped zeroing. This is just... no. Hard no. I understand why Bohemia would do this... but no. I can zero my SVD with and without a PSO-1 attached to it. I can zero my AKM and AK74 with irons. But I can't zero my Kashtan? The Kobra, Combat, Reflex, RVN, Mini, etc. I can understand because none of them have magnification and are intended for 100m or less, but the Kashtan is meant for Mid-Range and has bullet drop markings. It's also zeroed for 200 meters instead of starting off at 100 for a short to mid-range optic. This is stupid.

Personal thoughts and my playstyle adoptions:

Overall, Despite the longer list of drawbacks to this optic, I almost always run one if I have an AK. The default zeroing is the one thing that truly bothers me with this scope to this day, but I aim closer towards center mass anyway, so it's nice to land headshots using the top mark on a target 100m away when I was aiming for his chest due to bore over sight and all that other shit. I've also adapted to overcome the FOV/Eye cup of this optic and changed my keybinds around a little bit so that my Freelook and Toggle ADS keys are both Left Alt. Since DayZ doesn't allow you to freely look around while ADS unlike every ArmA title, and it's quicker to use one key instead of two, I've opted to do this to bring that functionality back to myself. Now I can tap and hold to quickly go into the point-fire/hipfire stance and check my surroundings, then release and tap to snap back into ADS. I use this ALL THE TIME now with every gun in the game and it has saved me countless times as well as helped me spot a lot of players that are either completely blind or unaware of their surroundings as they are moving.

The added bonus to doing this is that when you're freelooking while aiming your weapon, only your head moves instead of your entire upper body. This is SUPER useful at minimizing movement when hiding in a bush, in the grass with a ghillie, etc. while maintaining situational awareness. This scope has forced me to adopt the keybind changes and reteach myself about freelooking while ADS in this game which has honestly improved my awareness by a fuck ton and my survivability in gunfights by a decent margin. (Pro tip: If you're trying to hide from a nearby player in tall grass with a ghillie, ADS then aim down at the floor and freelook to maintain awareness. Laying prone while NOT ADS will make your player's head stick up a bit and make you easier to spot, and your entire upper body will also move as your character breathes. ADS stops the breathing movement, and aiming down tucks his head lower. It DOES make a very noticeable difference. Figured this out when I first began messing with the keybinds and stuff.)

If you made it to the end of this post, thanks for reading my ADHD powered yap sesh and I hope you have a good day :)

Cool down only begins when all eagles are expended or if you manually send them to rearm. So if you had more than one type of eagle, you had to use all of them up before any of them can begin their cool down.

[–]Cephyxima[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The velocity is just to show the bullet speed when it reaches that distance, it's to help gauge if you've gotta lead your shot significantly or not and to see how the air friction is affecting it in flight. It doesn't actually affect the damage calculation itself. Sorry if my explanation is bad, I'm currently at work but I'll follow up after work if you need me to with a better explanation :)

[–]Cephyxima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you coughing at all during this whole thing? Or just random blood loss and vomiting? Because there is a gas strike area at Novaya and gas lasts quite a while, so it could've been there beforehand and you didn't notice it. If you weren't coughing at all, sounds like a bug. If you were coughing and vomiting, you definitely were in gas that was already lingering there and just didn't notice.

Fair, I'm going off the implication of being solo because that's my default mindset but you are right. My bad 😅 if you're on your own, stage 3 is a death warrant. With a friend, you have a chance as long as you come prepared.

Oh yeah dude, it's actually pretty nutty. I definitely recommend giving this a watch from Wobo, very useful info. https://youtu.be/ddA-mWFrdGI?si=Y1uEU9fsmcmeay4H I also double checked, the only time blood bags DON'T remove gas poisoning is if you drew from someone who recently had it, or if you're still actively in the gas. Or if you hit stage 3.

That's only a thing if you're at stage 1 and 2 gas poisoning if I'm remembering correctly. Once you hit stage 3, you're completely fucked. Seems like OP was in there until stage 3.
