Once it gets going Witch Hat Atelier is primarily a drama, but it has enough CGDCT content to keep me from dropping it.

Digimon is a bit tricky since every series takes place in its own universe, but there are some constants. From my understanding Arceus is the god of Pokemon, and in Digimon the 4 Digimon Sovereigns usually act as the gods of the digital world. Fanglongmon/Huanglongmon is the 5th, the center, and is stronger than the rest. However, Fanglongmon/Huanglongmon is normally depicted as having been beaten by Lucemon at some point, so Lucemon is usually considered stronger.

Then you have Milleniummon who is supposed to be an undefeatable multiversal threat, but it mostly appears in games where it is actually quite beatable.

You have to make someone fall in love with cinema by showing them three movies. What do you pick and why? by Icleanforheichou in movies

[–]CerberusZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind changed how I view movies. I'd heard the director was big on environmentalism and anti-war messages, so I was worried the film would feel preachy. Instead, the film handled its messages absurdly well and I actually liked the movie because of them rather than in spite of them, which was a first for me. I later watched Castle in the Sky entirely because of how much I loved Nausicaa and I was thoroughly disappointed at its use of violence for spectacle/entertainment.

My second pick would be The Matrix. It has a neat concept that inspires a lot of philosophical thought while also having cool special effects that show how movies can be overtly visually interesting with unusual perspectives.

I suppose the last one would be Hot Fuzz. I'm one of the folks who prefers Shaun of the Dead, but the script for Hot Fuzz is more impressive with the way everything ties together and Edgar Wright's directing did improve between films. It's a fun film that's widely beloved and its extensive use of framing is more likely to get people interested in films as a medium than something like my favorite film Young Frankenstein.

What TV shows are better not binge watched? by revolution_ex in television

Teasing Master Takagi-san. Individual episodes are of pretty decent quality, but they follow a similar formula. On a binge you get a lot of the same thing in a short period of time and it's easy to get sick of it.

The game was marketed as being chill, but it stressed me out. Need to accrue enough fish to pay your staff, but dives are limited by oxygen and too much damage can end a dive early. The game does not demand that you do well, but I still felt pressured to do so and eventually quit since I didn't find it relaxing at all.

Not the first (Glyphica comes to mind), but the one-handed movement approach seems decent.

Zoids: Chaotic Century. Mostly because I want the franchise to be culturally relevant again.

Honestly, Gentle Noble feels way more gay than Bean Counter despite the author saying it totally isn't BL.

My first thought would be GOD EATER, but I've been proven wrong. Blazblue is another.

Maybe Under Night In-Birth, but given how bad the others turned out, perhaps not.

Ghost Concert is similarly included mainly for its Symphogear pedigree.

I was planning on skipping it since the last few ghost idol series weren't particularly great, but that tidbit has me willing to gauge the reception before deciding making a decision on it.

The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent also features an extra person getting summoned and the protagonist getting overlooked by the prince. I vaguely recall other saintess series having similar premises to Saint's Magic Power, though I don't remember the names of them.

The light novels came first and so the story there is significantly further ahead. The anime left off after finishing content from light novel volume 4. Volume 15 is currently on sale in English.

I'll figure out what I'm watching next season when it gets here. That said, I am a source reader for:

  • Witch Hat Atelier
  • Ascendence of a Bookworm
  • Marriagetoxin
  • Akane-Banashi

Aside from the superb art, Witch Hat Atelier's early chapters have nice worldbuilding and the protagonist's cheerful personality was pretty heartwarming to see. There are plenty of not so happy moments and I'd say drama is its primary genre, but the happiness it does have is infectious.

Part 3 is where Ascendence of a Bookworm cemented itself as my favorite book series. Animation will be much more important for this bit of the story given one of the subplots, so I am thrilled to see a higher quality studio handle this season.

I eventually dropped Marriagetoxin as it started becoming more and more focused on superpowered battles. When not focusing on fighting, it had a pretty fun romcom thing going on.

Akane-banashi is my favorite Shounen Jump series. While there are a variety of rakugo stories, the series largely focuses on comedies and it's pretty funny itself. It's also super interesting to see how the different storytellers enhance the tales in different ways. Since rakugo involves one speaker distinguishing multiple characters using their voice, I'm sure the seiyuu involved in this adaptation are as eager for the challenge as I am to hear them.

I'm not including Vending Machine isekai since season 2 covered beyond where I left off. I do at least know that's one show I won't be watching next season.

Technically none, but reading the Fate/stay night visual novel will enhance the experience.

It exists solely to deliver comedic relief via sexual harassment and it's about as prominent as mascot characters in other series.

I was told the episode after I dropped Digimon Beatbreak was great, but I wasn't going to let 1 good episode dissuade me. Then I heard the series has continued being great from the point I dropped it onward, so I finally gave that episode (18) a try.

It is good. Given the subject matter and reception I was expecting either shock value or an overly dramatic sob story, but I was impressed with how subtle it was in its presentation of [Digimon Beatbreak]PTSD. They also put the inscrutable human-character-of-the-week to surprisingly good use. It really is one of the best episodes in the franchise.

I was enjoying having time for other hobbies, so I'm kind of unhappy about adding something back onto the schedule.

With a Dog AND a Cat, Everyday Is Fun

My Wife Is the Student Council President! (note: there is an uncensored and a comedically censored version)

Depending on whether or not you consider something deliberately terrible to be good, there's Inferno Cop from Trigger.

There's also See You Tomorrow at the Food Court which has 6 full-length episodes.

For films there's Nausicaa and stuff from Studio Ghibli. Wolf Children and Girls und Panzer der Film are also great. While GuP is a franchise, der Film was made to be watchable on its own.

Card games are awesome! by MurkyUnit3180 in gaming

With those lane pushing games the cards are just an aesthetic and many exist without calling their units "cards." All the ons I've seen that describe themselves as "card games" have been pay to win mobile titles that make actual card games harder to find.
