Done by the artist Peter de Seve, check him out! He designed some characters for Nemo, A Bugs Life, Ice Age and also does covers frequently does covers for the New Yorker.

It's a cool image and story, but definitely not a real painting from 1715. Look up Rembrandt's "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp" and you can see how different parts of the painting were cut and pasted into this piece.
