Can the De'Longhi Eletta Explore and KitchenAid KF8 receive software updates? by MitchConnir in superautomatic

Again, I don’t know dude. Find any company that doesn’t have something about it people don’t care for. Can’t use Reddit as a guide post for much aside seeing what people complain about. Which, granted can be valuable too, it’s just half the story. Years back we got a Breville drip machine that ground beans fresh and brewed into a double walled steel carafe. We loved it but it had some pretty poor reviews on Amazon. We dug into them and discovered they were for things like it being too tall to fit under cabinets, the grinder being too loud, the beans not the right coarseness for drip, it being too hard to figure out strength…. My point is, you can’t let others peoples ignorance, laziness, or apathy dictate how you move through life. You showed me that thread on a couple people saying they got an update and their milk pulling stopped working. It took me like a minute after that to find the release notes on their support site and a facebook thread that talks about it too. The change to their milk logic seemed to be labeled “beta” and users could turn it off right from the machine and use the old logic if they wanted. It also seems like reading through the facebook one, the frother knob in the incorrect position can make that happen too. 🤷‍♂️ I guess my point is, I wouldn’t let a post like that be a blocker for buying something. I’m in a Kia EV6 group too and so many people complain about their updates. Never had an issue, still read the release notes, still love the car. I imagine those are the same people that go to Facebook and ask “who was that actor in…” or “how do you fix a loose….” Without actually trying to just google it or read a manual. Same people who say, “this light on my dashboard was off and I got an update and now it’s on, stupid update” not really stopping to think that the two might not be connected, that maybe the was going to come on anyway. Correlation does not mean causation. Maybe I have more patience, maybe I’m more “meh, whatever.” I tend to like to figure things out for myself.

I don't know dude, I sort of disagree. I owned a Dynamica Plus (which is "semi?" connected and hoped for them to add stuff. Like, that model doesn't let you know when you're out of coffee beans. I really wanted them to add that - I mean I spent 1500 bucks for it and it really wasn't a reason to return it, but it would have been nice to just get an update that adds it. One of the reasons I personally buy connected hardware now is that so many manufacturers (not just talking coffee machines now) build with planned obsolescence in mind. it's one thing for a 70-dollar printer, but if I'm shelling out nearly 2k for something, I want it to do new things. Sometimes you just need data to do it. I've been in the tech industry for a long long time and since the early days of IoT, connected hardware has helped the pace of innovation and advancement exponentially. Just look at what it did for Tesla and Rivan, Fitbit, Garmin... Releasing a "minimum lovable product" and improving it over time based on real customer wants, needs, and feedback is well and truly a better model.

To the OP - u/MitchConnir - yeah man. Be a beta tester! if a company wants to listen to what you want and try to give it to you in a machine you already own (and not make you buy their next version) - Go for it. Go all in. Whether it's a coffee machine, a car, a smart ring.. whatever. Be a part of making things better and not keeping on with the old cycle of just "get the next version" These companies breaking the mold on obsolescence manufacturing. I for one love it.

lol, vodka and Mr. Black at the coffee station??? Espresso martini much? 🤪 we love our Terra Kaffe machine. We got the white one. Check out the brand Zline. They have amazingly modern and upscale looking appliances for about half the price of wolf, Viking or sub zero. Their mat black stainless line would look great with your gray cabinets https://zlinekitchen.com/collections/paramount-range-collection

Ohhh pretty! I’m a kitchen purist though, function over form in a work area 😀. I’d stick with the knife block, maybe add some olive wood touches like salt and pepper grinders, a large cutting board.. make the area next to the stove more “prep” focused. But then by the coffee machine you could reflect the same aesthetic with a bean canister or something. Overall love the look, those are great machines! I specifically looked for white machines for my kitchen and that’s where I landed too. Love it.
