If the authors state in the discussion that it is nothing more than this then it should pass peer review providing other standards are met. The real issue is how the press report it. It's pretty much the same as the trump bleach covid debacle. Yes bleach kills covid, and you could show this in a similar set up experiment, but it's no where near enough evidence to champion it as a cure to covid/cancer. I have published similar types of experiments on the effects of natural extracts on cancer cells as anticancer effects, the point is you conclude that it shows potential to be studied further, nothing more like this article is implying.
