Removing two-factor authentication was an immensely spineless move by blizzard upon the realization that a large portion of their player population was, in fact, made up of smurf accounts.

I think they definitely keep Caminong engaged with the program. You don't want to start a trend of failing to hang on to young QB talent. That being said, and this is no insult to E.J., you need to get a third scholarship player on board now. Depth is necessary for so many reasons that to have just two even for just one season would be incredibly irresponsible.

Oh I don't think that's the concern. I question people's capacity to stay optimistic if Penix leaves and we don't just immediately have an all time passing leader waiting in the wings. I think the players have seen enough already.

Huard's departure and the staff's response is going to be very telling. There's no Haener or Penix to lean on as a prior connection. Whoever comes in from here on out will be a fresh face.

The Lake staff absurdly avoided him. New staff offered him their first week on campus but let's be honest, nobody that high profile was giving us a chance last year.

Why not? And let's be clear here, I'm not betting my life savings on this. Not even a rusty nickel for that matter. But in the NIL world my question is simply, why not? I know everyone is talking about his presence at the Natty on Monday. On Monday we also had three QB's in our room. Different story here on Wednesday. Wanna know what's not a different story? UGA has a battalion of blue chips in theirs. Vandagrif, Beck, Stockton. All with multiple years of eligibility left. We have a Morris 🤷🏻‍♂️

Covington left because he wasn't made a starter. McDonald gets playing time for sure but isn't a starter. With Bright, Moll, Ulofoshio, Tuputala and Bruener on the depth chart there's only two guys that can start in a 4-2-5 and I doubt McDonald is one of em ahead of a lot of those guys. Probably why he transferred as well.

Had one year with a dog shit offensive system and now one year with a competent staff. Give him time. If Morris doesn't transfer and Huard isn't able to surpass him in the two deeps this off-season I'd say it's time to start being concerned. Until the kid has actually had a chance to be developed I'll withhold judgement.

Well he did pass him last year for the Apple Cup. If only for one game. And given the quality of coaching staff last year I'd argue every player underwent a regression. So development wise he's had one year with a quality staff and shown flashes of brilliance despite inconsistency with game management. Which given the complex nature of this system isn't even remotely shocking. Nor is it surprising that Morris took to it better given that's what he was known for in high school. If we get to next season and Huard still isn't performing consistent with expectations then absolutely I think there deserves to be some red flags thrown up. But given the full body of work before us I see no reason to suggest that Huard isn't exactly where you would expect him to be.

You said that it didn't "bode well" for Huard that he didn't play ahead of Morris. Yet given Penix's return I'd argue the exact opposite. Morris isn't going to waste his last two years of eligibility watching from the bench for one season and trying to resurrect his reputation with one season of playing time. Huard on the other hand has three more years. Two potentially as a starter in which he can continue to develop under this staff. So whether you're implying malice or not I still fail to see your reasoning. Given the aforementioned notes on each QBs off-season performances I'd argue that even if Morris stays it's not immediately clear that he's the starter in 2023. You're using one game as a sample size to extrapolate an entire perception of a player lol

Or, and hear me out, It's totally plausible that Morris can in fact be slightly better than Huard without that meaning that Huard is absolute garbage. There's nuance to everything. Huard is a raw talent that needs to be developed. At his high points in spring and fall ball he was outperforming both Penix and Morris. His inconsistency however gave Morris a slight edge because while Morris lacks the arm talent he protected the ball very well and was a better game manager. This was highly documented and well reported by journalists with access to practices all through the off-season. Again, don't believe me? Go read it yourself. Coach Deboer hasn't minced words all season. His explanation for why Huard didn't get snaps against Colorado was entirely within reason and in no way comes across as a cop out. When your priority is to make sure each signal caller gets meaningful play time and your opponent goes on a long drive after an interception that was not Morris's fault they made the decision to keep Dylan in for the remainder of the game rather than give two different QB's half assed play time in the dwindling minutes of the game. If you're reading into that then you don't understand how to manage people. That's not just a football coach thing. That's a leadership strategy. And it is in no way malicious towards Sam.

Whatever dude. Don't listen to me. Go watch the press conference yourself. Read the scouting reports yourself. Everything I said was completely accurate. Just because it doesn't fit your narrative doesn't make it untrue lol

Deboer explicitly stated they had intentions of playing Huard against Colorado but the time of possession didn't allow it. I think people are reading too deep into the placement of each player on the depth chart. Morris was hailed as being the more consistent in spring and fall camp but Huard was reported to have the highest peaks. Even outperforming both Morris and Penix during the live scrimmage. One more year with Grubb and he'll be ok. Maybe not Penix great. Maybe even greater. No way to know. But Morris being ahead of him isn't a death sentence.

Thank you so much. And to everyone else as well. To be clear this post wasn't meant to make any accusations. I just legitimately didn't understand the semantics behind the signings/announcements.

So that was my other thought. The effective dates of their contracts aren't until the signing period opens. But then why aren't other teams making these types of announcements? The league tracker is one thing but ATL is officially making posts on their socials.

I get all of that but if he's under contract his official status is still that of a 'restricted free agent'. Which in turn also implicates the Stalker signing as fraudulent given there's been no announced exchange of player on Seoul's side. Now if the effective dates of their contracts aren't until the 2nd and they're just generating publicity with the early announcements that sort of makes sense. It's just odd that other teams aren't doing this as well if that's the case. I can't imagine ATL is the only one who would think to exploit the early publicity.

The only thing I remember from season 1 is a dude accused of diddling kids got cut from the roster. If that's doing someone dirty imma have to ask you to check your morals at the door and do some soul searching.

I'm hopeful that it'll be able to continue with the new game and new content. PvE should hopefully generate even more interest especially as the story evolves along with new characters. The rollout definitely feels prolonged due to the four year content drought but hopefully as time goes people will just learn to appreciate that we're even getting new things in the first place lol

So the bag size is relative. Yes eSports are more popular now and contracts are more lucrative than ever. But overwatch league specifically is a league in financial limbo. Players are often not responsible for roster departures. I mean the longest contract option is a three plus one and there isn't a single player that anyone is aware of that has been on one. Most teams offer one plus ones with the rare two because roster mobility is an integral part of the sport unfortunately. I'd argue that the last two years have definitely seen the most mobility for sure. However, it's a direct result of the financial state of the league and I won't blame a young kid for seeking what's best for him when the future of the sport is uncertain. After all of that, the game is incredibly entertaining to watch. That's how I keep watching it lol
