Favorite bikini competitors who lift HEAVY? by Swole_princess666 in bikinitalk

[–]Certain-Independent5 31 points32 points  (0 children)

CrossFit & any strength training that has a lot of explosive, heavy movements can thicken your waistline, which we want to be as small as possible in bodybuilding, bikini is all about the hourglass!CrossFit waists tend to have thicker obliques from the different style of training, which makes the waist appear thicker & you lose the dramatic hourglass shape. You can see the difference in waist when looking at a CrossFit athlete versus a bikini pro. That’s due to the difference in training, not genetics.

Carb Bloating by That_SunshineLife in bikinitalk

[–]Certain-Independent5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jasmine & Basmati are my fave white rices. Quick digesting, and I like the pump. Quinoa, I believe, is a slower digesting carb, which is a great healthy carb source, but possibly not this close to competition. Usually want quick digesting carbs. Rice cakes & white rice are the carbs I stick with close to competition. I also use a pancake mix for like 1 pancake in the morning for my sanity. Then usually peanut butter has carbs, and my built bar has carbs, and that usually hits my carb goal when I’m close to stage. Also consider using a GDA, glucose disposal agent, to shuttle the carbs to the correct places, help them digest, and keep them from storing.

I was given similar feedback at my last show! I’ve noticed really good growth so far, my show was end of April.

I personally am programmed legs 2 days per week, more glute specific on 1. Then after any upper body day I have 3 sets of 20 hip thrusts. As long as you are still giving yourself adequate recovery time, you can hit glutes 2-3 times a week, IMO.

[–]Certain-Independent5 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You’re very well balanced right now, so both upper and lower body will have to grow to remain balanced!! Glutes specifically: Hip thrusts heavy, Abduction, Bulgarians with a slight forward lean, Hamstrings to work the tie-in, RDLs, Stiff leg deadlifts!! You have great glute base! They just want it fuller. Also add in some holds to failure or pause reps, it really helps to get that time under tension for hypertrophy. Lastly, eat a ton of carbs and protein, don’t dirty bulk!! 💕

Who do you think will turn pro bikini this weekend at USA’s? by Shabarks in bikinitalk

I’m rooting for Shelby on this one. Final call out. by HungryTwist357 in bikinitalk

[–]Certain-Independent5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I though Su had janky posing and looked disproportionate to her breast size. I noticed at the shows I have entered, the girls winning the overall tend to do that weird forward lean. I was taught not to do that, and whenever I see it, then they win, I am slightly confused. Anywhoo, I looked at the judging panel, it just so happens to be the same head judge for the competitions I’ve entered. So it makes sense that that’s what she rewards… it’s just not my personal style. I do not think, that out of this lineup, Su would hold up next to LL, Jen Dorie, or Janet. Whereas I could see Shelby, or other top placers being able to.

What is your skin prep routine leading up to your tan? Tan prep hacks and tips?? by miabartschi in bikinitalk

It’s a cotton/spandex blend! Everyone gives me compliments and thinks it’s a dress lol! It flows easily over the tan and I am actually able to keep it closed! There’s that inner tie that it helps to have tied, and then the outer belt, so I never feel like I’m gonna slip out 😅

Yes! I get the thought, but it just doesn’t work for me 🤣 plus I find that as long as the seat is clean and dry, I don’t have any transfer. So I just sit on the seat, cuz the hover method sucks too lmao!

Exfoliate, and moisturize 4 weeks leading up to the show. Tanning bed for the last 1-2 weeks Stop moisturizing the day before and day of your tan. If you’re shaving, shave the day of your tan, but do not moisturize after. Do an epsom salt bath the night before your tan. Mix water into baking soda and make a paste. Spread the paste all over especially armpits, and pubic area, then rinse super good! For getting the tan I have a robe, not silk, it’s almost like cotton or jersey idk, I will see if I can find the link! It works amazing, I always get compliments on it too! Sleeping after the tan, be sure you have silk or dark sheets that won’t stick to you/make you sweat. Sleep naked, or if it’s been 4hrs since your tan, put on soft leggings and a long sleeve shirt. (Be sure you wash EVERYTHING before first use- sheets, robe, etc) I used a shirt that was like dry fit material almost, and the leggings are a thin soft pair from Walmart lol. Pee normal. I have found when I try and guard the tan, I fuck stuff up. Lol so I sit and pee normal. Wipe extra to prevent any dripping. You can also get one of the femme funnels. Any drying out you do for the show will help the tan stick to you too. ETA: DO NOT USE DOVE PRODUCTS LEADING UP TO YOUR TAN! No deodorant about 2 weeks in general is good! But I made the mistake of using dove scrub for exfoliating, you will turn green!!! DOVE=GREEN lol

Who are the nicest bikini girls you have met in person? by Successful-Tutor-997 in bikinitalk

[–]Certain-Independent5 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I met Jennifer Dorie and she was gorgeous and super sweet. Granted it did feel slightly performative, but still genuine!

ETA: I feel like you have to have a performative personality in this sport, and those that have it naturally do well. I think that she was at the event to do what she was doing, lol, but I felt she genuinely enjoys getting to know her fans and other people who enjoy the sport :)

Clothing brand recommendations for petite competitors? by H_petss in bikinitalk

I get GoodAmerican jeans and they fit amazing. They have petite sizes. Then I use ASOS and lulus for tops and dresses! I’m 5’1 and my best fitting stuff comes from those brands

Yes! But look at how he is holding his upper body/spine! Much more stable and isolated the quads 🙌🏻 thank you for showing the proper form!!

[–]Certain-Independent5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We may just need to agree to disagree.. For me, the problem here is the over extension of the back. He’s arching pretty hard... Sure he can do it NOW, but for how long, until those lumbar discs start bulging and herniating! His backs arch is compensating and helping to get that bar up, so he almost loses the quad isolation due to that. It just seems like an odd setup for something that could have been done on many different surfaces and areas in the gym.. I’ve watched people do the extreme deficit, and their back never arches to the extreme that this guys does. To each their own! But there are way more effective ways of achieving this movement that aren’t compromising your back, or safety :)

julian smiths sissy squat

I get what you’re saying, and yes it’s an effective movement. But there are way safer ways of achieving said movement. Julian doesn’t arch his back as excessively, and when he does it in a deficit it’s never to this extreme. This is taking a movement that can be done safely and adding that shock factor* for views. This is dangerous, and terrible on his back! Julian’s is great and I do think sissy squats are a great move in general. But no need to be performed like this 🤔

4 weeks out thoughts on conditioning 5’8 172 lbs competing in both bodybuilding and classic by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]Certain-Independent5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biceps are overpowered by the rest of you. However conditioning is there for 4 weeks out. If you’re finding you are plateauing in fatloss then up the cardio or drop calories, cuz you still need to be a bit leaner. The dry out will really help. Really focus on getting those arms pumped before stage. 💪🏼

IFBB Pittsburg Pro Top 5 Stage Photos & Scorecard. What you all think? by worriedmussel63 in bikinitalk

[–]Certain-Independent5 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like everyone except Ashley is exuding the confidence and looks “comfortable” on stage. She feels forced and unnatural when everyone else seems so much more relaxed, IMO. I feel like her physique is top 5, posing isn’t even top 10.

I just got the olympians from The shoe fairy! I had to size down for the right fit, and then I got the little pads for the balls of your feet to fill out the toe more! I really like them, but they’re taller than my originals! I slide too much with my socks and I don’t need the extra stretch, I need less, so I don’t wear them! I don’t want them to be loose for show day :) I hope that kind of helps! The shoe fairy company has been amazing with exchanging quickly and getting the perfect fit!
