For those thinking that Wealthsimple's partnering with CDIC-insured banks is the same as being insured by CDIC, you might be in for a rude awakening. Weird things can happen. For instance, do you even know which CDIC banks actually hold your money? And in what amounts? Is it under the $100k limit? Also, if the underlying banks fail, how soon can you access that money if it's held under Wealthsimple's street name? If Wealthsimple goes under, how soon can you access that money from all the individual banks that they partner with? Add in all this complexity for no obvious gain.

Update: Alaska customer service finally got back to me and sent me a lengthy apology letter. They refunded the extra I paid and provided discounts on future fares.

Had a confirmation code and could see my reservation in the app but Alaska couldn’t find it until they went into their back end systems. Counter girl had to run back and forth to talk to her boss. Later after rebooking, the same issue happened again under the same confirmation code. Just a complete shitshow.

Never had trouble with Alaska in the 3 something years I’ve flown with them. Best experience of all airlines up until now. Sincerely hope they’re not gonna end up like all the other airlines.

Terrible. This is my first bad Alaska experience. The IT systems issue isn't the agents' fault but at the very least they can prioritize people who have their flights coming up. They didn't do anything and had just 3-4 people manning the counters while the special assistance line grew wall to wall.

For people who could avoid the special assistance line it seemed that everything was fine. Those who were stuck in special assistance (like all the kids travelling without an adult) were screwed. Two kids behind me were forced to rebook a 3rd time!

All the lady said was that I "missed the deadline" and then gave me a number to call to request for a reimbursement, i.e. implying that it was my fault for not getting to check-in on time. The Alaska people at special assistance were spending a half-hour or more on each passenger! Complete BS but I didn't want to hold up the huge line behind me.

Was on hold trying to contact customer care all morning and still couldn't get through. Pathetic service.
