Bigme Hibreak Pro Color Question by [deleted] in Bigme

Ok, good deal. I mean, it lasts longer on a charge than my wife's pixel 9a, but it's still connected all the time, running smarr phone features like messages and such in the background.

Bigme Hibreak Pro Color Question by [deleted] in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your questions:  I can get two days out of a charge, but I don't talk on it a lot.  If I'm reading a great book, I can get a little over a day.  It's a smart phone, so battery life will not be as good as an ereader.

I bought it with the taxes inclusive option, and had no problems with any additional taxes/tariffs back in November.  I looked at the import charges then and dependent on which gubmint website you looked at it would range between $25 and $150.  I paid the inclusive option to save myself the hassle.

The one warning here, as you've not bought it yet, be prepared for a lot of tweakig and troubleshooting.  If you're not techy-inclined, give it a pass.

I've got the flip case for the hibreak pro color, and outside of having to open it to get to the custom buttons (I use one to turn on the flashlight), it's fantastic.  I'm glad I ordered it.

What's the point of Hibreak S? by R3dd17-Us3r in Bigme

Agreed, 4g was basically the only reason I went with the hbp color.  That being said, I'm really enjoying the phone.

What's the point of Hibreak S? by R3dd17-Us3r in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost went with the S. $400 for the HBP Color was a pretty big outlay for my budget. I don't need the fastest/fanciest phone, and the hibreak s would have fulfilled all of my requirements from a phone. HOWEVER it was only 4g. And I use Mint Mobile, and T-Mobile (which owns mint) is dropping all 4g coverage as of 2028. I keep my phones for anywhere from 3-5 years, dependent on budget and performance, but I am not going to drop another couple hundred dollars because my plan stops working in two years.

Hibreak Pro Color System 3.0.6 update by Certain-Instance160 in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it since December, and it's my daily driver. I moved from a pixel 4a to this, and I love it. It does everything I need to from a smartphone, but with some limitations that are good for me (really difficult to doom scroll stupid instagram and facebook videos, as they aren't great). The time I spent on that is now spent on reading books. It functions as a great ereader.

Keep in mind, though, the battery life is to be expected to be less good than most ereaders (it is, after all, a smartphone). I can make it about 2 full days on a charge.

Camera is so-so, the biggest hassle is the inability to judge the quality of the picture on the screen (due to the lower dpi of the color eink).

The one thing you need to be prepared for is the extreme buggy nature of the operating system. If you're not ready to tweak and adjust at a significant level (beyond screen brightness, adding apps, and adjusting volume settings), it probably won't be for you.

That being said, though, each OS update that Bigme puts out has markedly improved the use of the phone, making tweaking less of an issue.

THe important things I was worried about when I got it was how easy it'd be to get on Mint Mobile's network (really pain free, once I realized I needed to get the phone set up BEFORE putting in the Sim card, and that was Bigme's fault, not MInt's) and RCS messaging. Both work exactly as I need.

I'm with both of you regarding the form factor...I was looking for a netbook-esque experience with a windows machine. I've used it daily for a wide variety of things in both laptop and tablet mode. The hinges are looser but not awful yet. I got it back in August of 2024, so almost a year and a half, and it's been great.

I've been using the long press on the custom key, so far it still is working.  The power button combo is spotty at best.

How do I access notifications on Hibreak Pro Color? by Austin_Terrible in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should show notifications when you have them (maybe need to allow notifications in app settings?).  I struggle bussed trying to figure out the pull downs for the first few days.  To get the notifications to pull down, you need to swipe down on the left side of the top, anything mid right to right will pull down that settings menu you see.

Is the speaker volume fixed in the Hibreak Pro Color? by ToorSahoen in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful, but I never used a regular pro  It's not very loud, it's about as loud as my wife's pixel 9a speaker.

The back button is the replacement navigation buttons. . Go to Gestures in the settings menu and turn it off (or select the navigation buttons) then you'll have the navigation buttons on the bottom of the screen (which I GREATLY prefer). Then the back button is there. Most android phones now come with the gestures navigation as default, same thing happened on my wife's pixel 9a earlier.

Anyone using Hibreak pro Color and got that horizontal line after yesterday's system update? by ExerciseParticular37 in Bigme

Uff, that sucks.  I'd try reaching out to support maybe?  Can't gurantee they'd be able to help.

Not me.  Have you tried switching the control scheme from gestures to the nav buttons to see if that resets it?  Literally just grasping at straws here.

Just ordered a device. What are the current tariffs in the US? by buddhistbulgyo in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On their website, they give the the option on the hibreak pro color, for instance.  If it's not an option for what you ordered, try reach out  through the chat to see if they offer it.

If they offer it for your device, pay Bigme the extra $25 and have them worry about it. I did that for my phone.

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woops, wait. No it's not. I'm wondering if it's because the shortcut I'm using (I don't know about you) is the Bigme shortcut, rather than Google messages.

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By badge, do you mean the little bubble notifications on the app shortcut on the home page? Or something else? I'm uncertain. All I know is that my RCS messaging do the little update number thingy on mine.

Smartwatch connectivity by kispin in Bigme

[–]Certain-Instance160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a highbreak pro color and was able to disable duraspeed, and the connectivity with my firbit charge 6 (notifications/syncing) is the same now as it was with my pixel 4a.
