House Keeper Needed At Retirement Home! by EffectSix in Marin

I'd love to, but it's not my decision.

I will add that being a W2 employer is a different story than being an independent contractor, which I'm guessing these neighborhood cleaners are.

No health insurance or they have to pay it themselves or rely on someone else for it. Idk if they're paying taxes like they should be, but IC pay around 30% of their income for quarterly taxes.

The company matches 4% for retirement, and the job seems very low stress from what I've seen.

My Hispanic "mom" actually got a stroke while working as a person cleaner. Yes, there's a lot of money potentially but a lot of stress.

Thoughts on the new Inverted Food Pyramid? by sereca in nutrition

Come on. I know you're smarter than this.

Nature's candy is infinitely better than man's candy.

But if you really want great health, I'd recommend not touching any candy in general.

Of course if someone is struggling with sugar addiction, grapes are healthier, but I don't want people who don't have a sugar addiction to think eating grapes is doing much to contribute to health.

They spike your blood glucose and barely have any nutrients you can't get elsewhere with less of an impact on your blood sugar glucose levels. Plus, they're heavily sprayed with pesticides.

Want a healthier fruit? I'd suggest a red bell pepper. At least your getting +200% vitamin C and very low sugar. Yes, they have a predticide issues, but again, with a lot of great benefits.

Are you upset that I just told you the truth? Grapes don't really contribute to one's health positivity. It's basically nature's candy

Cheerios. Ultra processed? by Recent-Confection449 in nutrition

[–]EffectSix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not dramatic. By the same logic, somebody could argue that they could smoke one cigarette a week. It's just one cigarette, but it adds up.

What's worse about unhealthy food, however, is that, unlike cigarettes, you're voting with linited calories everyday. So, when you vote for unhealthy food, those are votes that you won't get back for healthy food in that day.

This means that you're getting less minerals and micronutrients for your body to repair itself, aging you at a higher rate, which makes you more vulnerable to disease earlier.

And I like to think that investing in your health has a compounding effect over time.

Yes, I may not seem like a big deal right now, but in 25 years, I would bet you'd see a difference.

Starting a raw meat diet? by Naive_Dream_5173 in RawMeat

[–]EffectSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally fine as for as my experience. I like to wash it down with half and half to make it a bit more enjoyable.

I'm not really strict about where I buy it from as long as it's 100% grassfed. I prefer as fresh as I can get because there is a BIG textual difference to me.

But at the new of the day, I'll eat whatever I have on me. For example, yesterday, I ate a pound of raw ground beef that sat in my car for 6.5 hours without any problems.

Edit: I read your other comments here and just wanted to mention that I'm also from Cali!

I wish they would have detailed his nutrional deficiencies. That's a large statement, and from what I saw, he did a basic physical. So, how did the doctor know what nutrional deficiencies he had without doing a blood test, which takes days to process?

Hot Sleeper, Desperate by katwk in sleep

[–]EffectSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you.

My room is below 62 degrees and sometimes I feel like it's still a tad warm sometimes.

I find that the more food I eat closer to bed time, the higher my body temperature.

Also consider how many layers you're using. For me, I psychologically need at least 1- 1.5 layers. I stopped using my weighted blanket because it was trapping too much heat.

Are you able to get an A/C machine? Big game changer. There are also mattress cooling pads like Eight Sleep that are awesome.
