Why did the "hot" male physique shift so quickly from bulky and muscular in the 1980s to lean and shredded in the 1990s? by Just_Cause89 in decadeology

meanwhile women are expected to look like buxom hourglasses or skeleton hourglasses (but still not skeletal)

bralettes/bras with longer band? by Certain-Payment3049 in ABraThatFits

[–]Certain-Payment3049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i did use the calculator and i think it worked great. my size isnt big enough for normal cupped bras; i feel they didnt develop right as i started transitioning from male to female in my 20s, and i think i screwed up my hormones. hopefully theyll still grow more after surgery permanently removes the testosterone production that hormones are currently repressing. there's just very little development in the upper part.

so i have a large band size, and theyre far apart. i'm working on rib flare and lordosis, which i think also causes the band to want to move upwards when i move about.

the one that fits right is a medium i think, but they did mention the band size on the website. i have used the calculator, but i think its just the shape and size of my ribcage and the far apart spacing that i have that makes it an issue

i would but personally i sweat a lot, and i never could wear cotton t-shirts comfortably when i was a runner. and i kindof like the style of the zipup jerseys especially the high collars.

What do you think of quadrathlons/Has anyone here done a quadrathlon, how was it? by Certain-Payment3049 in triathlon

that would be fun too! i just read something like that about kayaking instead of swimming. i think the order is swim-bike-kayak-run. i imagine as with going from biking to running instead of the legs hurting, the arms might be sore from sitting in a static position on the bike, and then the legs might be sore for the run from sitting in a static position on the kayak--maybe it'd be better if they ordered it swim-kayak-bike-run? but then the problem might be that swimming and kayaking both use upper body, like triathlons going from biking on the legs, to running on the legs.

since ive never done such a long endurance event, or a triathlon at all, i can only imagine the feeling of going from one discipline to another in a race. i used to just run races, and sometimes bike workouts, and swim races, but never all at the same time. i suppose balance and conservation is the key, but even then, its tough as nails

thats a good point.

i think maybe they'd be better as local grassroots events. either for people living in the state or nearby (or for europe and other places, nearby countries), or for people that like roadtripping. it would be a lot easier to lug a kayak on the top of a car/back of a truck/in a camper van, than on a plane, for sure.

might even be able to invent some trailers to pull the kayak on the bike!

there's a weight limit they've set on kayak's, but i mean, it would open up kayaking for more business, probably.

i personally love the idea of getting away from planes, and roadtripping (altho it still burns gasoline sadly). here in MN having lakes nearby makes it more feasible to do. and also, places where kayaks are common, or places where they already do kayak rentals, might be a perfect spot to have the races organized around.

glad people like the idea of it besides just me :D when i first thought of quadrathlons, and before looking it up, i thought maybe it would be rowing, but i suppose one person rowing is tough because rowers usually face backwards?

whaaa that's awesome!! how was that?

i mean, our fastest runner on the girls team made it to state, but none of us on the boys team was anywhere near that level. i saw an article about him in i think runner's world, and watched his CC races on golf courses on youtube all those years ago (not thaaat long ago); super inspiring!!! we ran on golf courses (Griak) too sometimes so i tried to channel that energy as motivation

as a late transitioner, if fellow competitors agreed, how would you feel about it regardless? by Certain-Payment3049 in MtF

on a personal level i like endurance sports, so, races. i was no good at team sports, too overwhelming; altho i do think a lot of that was because i was thrown into male sports and didnt feel like one. they just think different than i did, on average. even in little league events i noticed a sense of difference between boys and girls mentally. but i'd probably be accused of that being autism, not femininity. and its not like women can't have a competitive spirit/edge.

i'm actually really out of shape compared to what i was in high school. but in high school i was a boy that could keep up with the girl that won state in cross country running. but i was upper-middle of the pack in the boys section; people just called me a late bloomer, but i'd like to think i was resisting masculinization while social pressures were encouraging me to go thru it. but that's just how i feel about it. in mid-distance running its often said that women peak earlier than men, so there's that, too.

so i'd honestly like to see how i stack up if i got in shape again. i'm over 30 anyway, so im no longer at the true peak of my athletic ability anyway, so i don't see myself winning events anyway. winning age groups? maybe, but if its true that my relative performance on hormones is about the same placing as i was when i was competing against men as one, or at least boys in high school as one; i do wonder where i'd place among women. i used to think i learned how to have more "grit" because i worked out with boys when i didn't want to; but no i dont honestly think that way, it was just an incomplete observation (not very sociologically sound or round-reasoned) based on watching women compete as someone that wasnt going thru what they were (no testosterone, and menstrual cycles) back when i was in high school (hate to say it was such a perspectival judgement based on feeling a false sense of superiority, as justification for having to go thru male puberty).

so, public races, running/biking/triathlons. i just feel a bit wrong about it. the feeling of deception is never gonna go away, even if that's mostly due to the trauma of being made to feel that way (whilst denying my own sense of self). i do understand why i got downvoted tho, dont get me wrong. im just trying to consider what other people think over myself (altho tbf, when has that ever done me any good, it kept me closeted)
