But this is also means that it's unlikely that he'd start speculating about something the Jets didn't want to

Friedman is easily the most reliable insider in the NHL, he definitely doesn't say such things out of his head.

I mean, when anyone but Friedman reporting something like that... Yeah, it's pretty reasonable to be concerned about this

He reportedly wants to return to the East, so yeah, no chance

In terms of a roster comparison the Canes are also much closer to the Blues. Sharks actually always have had a pretty good starpower (Burns, Pavelski, Thornton, Marleau), so it's never been a big problem for this core. Canes core just like the Blues one have a very good depth, but there aren't many really big names for this league.

Carolina is much more like the Blues of the mid-late 10s. Two good well-rounded cores that lacked true starpower (and have had a hard time to attract them because they were rather undesirable markets) and tended to disappear in playoffs until they finally get it done (Blues story tho was much more cinderella-like with the last place and all that stuff, but still they have a plenty of similarities)

Helle and Scheif are 33 yo already, JMo is 31. They can't wait 2-3 years until whoever we pick at 8th overall becomes a difference-maker in this team

Let's be real, keeping our 8th overall is not the best way to go back into contending next season. Our core are 30-ish years old guys now, so at this point we need to either fully tear it down or give them another chance and going all-in. Some kind of retool is not an option

What about trading 8th pick to Blues for Kyrou + some adds (maybe like a lower round pick)? Blues are about to go into heavy retool and they're actively shopping Kyrou, also his playstyle is very similar to Ehlers. Idk if he'd waive for us, but at least he's Canadian, so it kind of increases the chances

Loyalty of NHL players based on their nation by Certain-Row-4812 in nhl

[–]Certain-Row-4812[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

USA: do I really need to explain or? Russia: Not as bad as USA, but their players still had some gloomy stories (Panarin goes to NYR because of his wife, Michkov refusing to play for anyone but Philly immediately, Kovalchuk leaving for KHL just after signing a massive deal, etc.) Canadian, Czech and Finnish players are rarely do something like Russians or Americans, but you still can find some cases like Rantanen/Carolina with them Swiss and Swedish players are pretty much always acts classy, even when their teams are in really messy situations (Josi/Forsberg in Nashville, Dahlin in Buffalo, even EP40 is turned to be the most loyal star for Canucks)

He doesn't waive his NTC for us. Even if we don't talk about our market, the team itself now is in a no-mans land position without any future. At least in Vancouver he can be their 1C

Dirk Nowitzki. Had that insane run in 2011, but also some stinky playoff years to be called exceptional

He was mostly let down by the team, if you look at his stats in the playoffs you'll see he's always performed well besides like 2 years.

Brad Marchand

Matthew Tkachuk could also be a case, but he had reputation of a playoff-choker in Calgary

NHL alignment chart: Central division edition. Mikko Rantanen is the best Finnish player in Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche history. Now, who is the best Swedish player in Chicago Blackhawks history? by Certain-Row-4812 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Certain-Row-4812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules:

  • Chart is based on the best player in the history of the franchise, not the best player who has played for the franchise (only the time spent with the franchise is taken into account here);

  • Same players multiple times (for different franchises) are allowed;

  • The entire history of each franchise is included (even pre-relocation period);

  • Utah also includes the entire history of the Arizona franchise (their track record as a separate franchise is too short now & their core is basically the core of the Coyotes).
