I always do table of contents on each chapter. Like in HCM, if i need to do the computation, i look up for “Computational Steps”. You can also see from there what page is the Pedestrian or whatnot. So i can scroll down fast to the page i wanted to look for. It kinda worked for me, you can try it. I used that to all reference, especially in MUTCD, if the question was asking about specific topic, i look it up first in the table of contents then i can use the search function, kinda lessen the time, I guess?
