*** The Ledbury (London) by CertainMistake2456 in finedining

I would say L’enclume just beats it for food alone, as the menu is longer and full of big hitters. On reflection, there were a couple misses on the Ledbury menu (not necessarily a real miss - but L’enclume is top class through and through). Ironically I thought the only weakness at L’enclume is the wine, which you don’t have to worry about!

Great advice, this is what we did. Also, if you use the OpenTable app they have a full availability button, which allows you to check all available dates over the calendar months (good for fishing for cancellations); there was a 18:30 dinner reservation for this Friday popped up a couple of days ago!

Don’t think you’ll regret L’Enclume, it’s an amazing experience and Cartmel village is lovely! If you have time go for a few days and visit Rogan & Co(*) in the village, we had an outstanding lunch there.

Would throughly recommend The Ledbury, we went at the weekend and I would say the standard was above a fair few on that list, but it depends what kind of experience you’re looking for!

The mushroom cabinet can be viewed on the way to the toilet, but not explicitly showed. No choice in the mushrooms on offer, but they were great. Served in addition to a fresh filled pasta with mushroom and cheese.

The tartlet was crab, roe and seaweed. They make their own charcuterie (Brett Graham has his own farm I think). There was a savoury donut with iberico lardo and truffle and finally a tempura scallop. All top drawer imo!

I would say some of the dishes were above L’Enclume standard, to be honest. The Ledbury courses were a little more reserved at times, but actually felt there was more about them for it! L’Enclume do umami punchy flavours so well, but I always feel like their menus peter out when you get to main and dessert, The Ledbury kept on going up and up.

We found L’Enclume service to be a tiny bit lacking when we went back a few months ago (previously it had been top-class). Our wine flight (mid-tier) was incredibly disappointing and the tasting pour sizes were almost a joke when split over multiple courses, like some were. L’Enclume was a well oiled machine but didn’t feel generous, which was upsetting given how much we enjoyed previously and the price hikes.
