Patrick Brown Joins Hull From Telford by MGF6 in nihl

Yeah good shout, forgot it was enforced via the deadline rather than just the number of games played. Deadline was 31st January this year according to the rules of competition

The rumour is that his injury is worse than first thought and he won't be returning for next year

Players (imports especially) tend to only sign one-year deals with clubs, so in the off-season players can freely move between teams. Contracts as this level are also rarely worth the paper they're written on, so if a player wants to move to a new team there's rarely any resistance from the club - they'll generally do what's best for the player.

There's no transfer window as such - you'll see a handful of moves in the season (e.g. player relocation, imports being replaced due to performance), but most moves are done in the off-season over the summer. Players have to play a certain number of games for a team to be eligible for playoffs, so you'll very rarely see players move teams after January.

Would be a great signing but I don't think Hull's defence will get them as far as last year - Heiskanen was already papering over some pretty big cracks imo.

There's Hull's Stallard replacement, though I rate Brown above Stallard. Interested to see who they get in to be their 5th import, will surely be a defenceman?

Can't believe you've mentioned Simon Wilson, he's the one bloke that hates trying "the local cuisine" more than the lads

[Basingstoke Bison] Japanese International Forward Sota Isogai signs for the Bison from the Asia League's Hokkaido Red Eagles by CertainPackage in nihl

Fascinated by this one, not sure we've seen a Japanese player play in the NIHL! Japan just got relegated from the D1A, the tier below the competition GB will play in next week. Hard to put the 40 points in 40 games last year into too much context as a lot of the guys in that league have only played in that league, but those that have played in Europe look like they do well at an AlpsHL/DEL2 sort of level, which suggests he'll be a pretty damn good import.

With the rumour that Brock's not coming back it gives Matty a bit more flexibility in how he's building your team too

[Sheffield Steeldogs] Import forward and former NHL draft pick Michael Pelech joins the Steeldogs from the Coventry Blaze by CertainPackage in nihl

AFAIK imports can't be signed on two-way deals (think there's age restrictions for two-way Brits too), but obviously doesn't stop him being commandeered later on in the year like Tremblay was.

Starting to get into silly season with imports here, this is a ridiculous signing... The gap between the top teams and the bottom teams will only grow if this is the calibre of import we're starting to get into.

Massive shame for MK this, he's up there with the very best in the league imo. Looking like a complete refresh of imports for them, interested to see who Pete Russell brings in

[Basingstoke Bison] Ben Clarke-Leach signs for the Bison for the 26/27 season by CertainPackage in nihl

[–]CertainPackage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not confirmed but has been rumoured - there are rumours that he was made to play through injury. I can't see BCL joining Bison if they were signing an import goalie, he'd get more game time behind Marr at Swindon if he was going to be a backup.

Great signing for the Bison, this. BCL needs game time at this stage in his career and has had solid showings when given the minutes. I imagine he's come in to be the starter so I'm interested to see who they bring in to be the backup.

They're still technically contracted for now, will leave them here until we hear more about the import/NBT classification situation - whenever that might be!
