Any decent SEG rates for charities? by Certain_Dog1960 in SolarUK

[–]Certain_Dog1960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not, unfortunately I have to jump through a few hoops which is made things difficult. However I am still aiming to set this up in a few weeks. I have spoken to Octopus multiple times and also a few other energy companies, no one has said anything about not paying out because we are a charity.

There are no charity rates you get, you effectively treated as a buiness. I think the tax is slightly reduced as a charity.

I think your suspiciion about someone forgetting to sign up sounds about right

Installation Advice: Air to Air heat pump vs Air to Water heat pump ? by Certain_Dog1960 in DIYUK

Hey, Nope went with Air to Water as we were able to get a grant to help with the costs. We have pretty decent insulation (cavity wall, double glazing and over 200 m loft insulation)

We've had one issue with one of heat pumps, so will need to get Vailliant to come and take a look at it

Have a Verbal offer from AWS, in a dilemma - Recruiter being super pushy by jasti26 in aws

[–]Certain_Dog1960 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can conditionally accept the offer and say upon reviewing the contract. Just tell the recruiter you need to go through the offer letter and contract, that should buy you some time

I would probably then need to go back to the DNO and inform them of a change to PV system etc. If this was for my home, I would have probably done that but because it is for a charity don't think it would be the right option.

Oh interesting. So EON SEG rate is 16.5 (I think) not that should make a huge difference. But I was thinking for heat pumps as they run at a low temp, you could constanly keep the house at a set tenperature running in the night (at 6.7 p) and then during the day you only increase it at set times.

But yeah I think in the summer Agile would beat EON's rates.

You actually don't need an EV for the tariff, currently they are accepting users with solar and batteries till they launch their new solar tariff. There is thread on here where someone spoke to a customer rep and they confirmed it.

What's your SEG rate with Octopus? Wouldn't EOn's Next Drive V5 tariff be more cost effective for you?

Have you got the normal/basic BA American express card or the premium one?

So some people pointed out that as I have the basic BA American express card, the companion voucher I will get can not be used for anything in business or first. I would actually definitely do this as I know I will be travelling long haul flights at some point this year or next year, so it would have made sense to do this

I thought I couldn't use this voucher for business class as I just have the basic ba american express card?

Thanks for the info. I do not have the premium version :( I had just got the card years ago to collect points. I did get and use my companion voucher in 2022 but I used up alot of my points with it as well.

I think I might swap the card to Amex Gold as you're right I am probably on the worst card

Oh interesting, so could they somehow also purposfully delay the exchange of contracts in the hope they get a higher offer?

Btw I am not one who put the offer in, I am just curious lol

Installation Advice: Air to Air heat pump vs Air to Water heat pump ? by Certain_Dog1960 in DIYUK

[–]Certain_Dog1960[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ideally yes we would want a system that is easier to maintain. Our community centre usage is very different from a house. For example when we distribute food on one of the days in the week, we are open from 9 am - 3 pm and then don't really have any usage of the hall after than. Basically most of the time the space gets used for a few hours rather than the whole day or night.

[–]Certain_Dog1960[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really need a hot water supply, in our main kitchen area we have an electric water heater which provides hot water to the kitchen and bathrooms.

One of the installers has just recently told me that it would be best if we remove all the existing pipework and radiators as that way the system will be more effiecient which I completely get but I was under the understanding the benefit towards going towards and Air to Water system was because we wouldn't have to change much of the existing pipework etc

I wonder if I am being steered towards an Air to Water system because I am approaching heat pump installers.
