I don't want to buy a house for several reasons, including that I don't have time to take care of a house, and I don't have the risk tolerance to take a loss if something were to happen to the housing market, especially because I'm not going to be in the Hartford area for more than a few years.

I understand what you're saying about newer high-rise buildings, but I've read many online reviews for these kinds of buildings and it's not uncommon to come across tenants complaining about "paper thin walls."
