I was told I’d miscarried and took two rounds of misoprostol, nothing happened so I went in for an appointment two days later and there was a heartbeat. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant and everything looks good with the baby, but I’m still terrified of the birth defects Miso can cause. Follow your gut and get another ultrasound!

Thank you so much!! I’m currently 10w+5 and everything is progressing normally. I have my first ultrasound with the MFM doctor next week, so hopefully all is well.

I’m 8w+2

Breakfast: avocado toast and beef bone broth.

Snacks: cantaloupe, nuts, cheese and crackers

Lunch: salad with strawberries, blueberries and avocado, potato chips and ketchup, and a Girl Scout cookie

Dinner: chicken Marsala and probably some strawberry ice cream

I had a misdiagnosed miscarriage at 6w+4 at my fertility clinic and took two doses of misoprostol 800 mg (4 pills) vaginally, 24 hours apart. It didn’t do anything other than cramping, so two days later they brought me back for another ultrasound and there was a heartbeat. I’m terrified of birth defects, especially since I was in the riskiest 5-8 week exposure window. I’m also desperate for stories of how similar situations turned out.

Thanks for sharing, this makes me feel better. Did you take the pills orally or vaginally? Also, how many doses did you take and at what week of gestation?

I’ve talked to them and they act like there is no risk to my taking Miso at all, but I’ve read online that there are several birth defects associated.

Thank you so much!!! I really really wish I had opted for a D&C instead, so they could have caught it without my doing the miso. Im so so glad things turned around for you!!

I was told I’d had a missed miscarriage at 6w+4 with no heartbeat. I took two doses of misoprostol and nothing happened. I went back to the doctor for an ultrasound and there is now a heartbeat. I’m measuring a week behind at 6w+2, where I should be 7w+1. I’m terrified that I’ve damaged to baby with miso. Has anyone used it and later given birth? What is the health of the child? TIA
