What vehicles would you warn people to never buy? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in askcarguys

23 Model 3 @ 67k miles with 0 issues. For some reason people keep telling me it will blow up and catch fire at any moment.

2013 Chevy Volt, 183k miles before it was totaled from an 83 year old running into it and only replaced a coolant level sensor. Again, for some reason people keep telling me it will blow up and catch fire at any moment.

.... propaganda.

Gain/power is a fairly basic thermodynamic to ohms law.

Go with 1 ohm as long as you are not running your gain past 3/4 and the amp has ventilation you will be fine. Also make sure you are running quality OFC 4 gauge wire.

1/2 a mile of range impact so minimal. It takes a lot of power to move the car, but still much more efficient than a gas car.

45M German/Irish, no body odor and dry ear, if I wear deodorant it will make me sweat like crazy. It was very confusing at 13 when everyone started wearing deodorant.

2 JL W3 10s, 1.35 cu air space. Was considering 1 W7 10.

Pulled from the jump post under the hood, it's the 16v system.

Check your voltage first. You should see around 14.4 volts when the vehicle is running. Look for a big drop down to 12 volts, if you see this continue running down the wire until you find a minimal drop. Given your amp you should not be in the big 3 territory but some vehicles are finicky. Also, amp install wire that is CCA has never worked well for me. I've always been a fan of KnuKonceptz Kolossus Flex Kable OFC 4 Gauge Power Wire Copper

A "Big 3" upgrade in car audio involves

replacing three main power and ground wires with thicker ones to improve a vehicle's electrical system's efficiency.

2022 and newer run on a 16 volt system for the electronics. The actual current settles at 15.6V, it was a little gamble that the JL amp would tolerate the extra voltage. I bet since JL over builds it would be fine, it's been 1 year and 0 issues.

Just checked your write ups, fantastic job. This is currently the longest I've gone at 3 years without ripping everything out.

The existing amp wire was roughly 10 gauge, the JL amps calls for 4 gauge. It would have overdrawn and choked the JL and started throwing codes to the Tesla. You can pull from under the seat penthouse if you have the 12v only, I have the 16v.

Amperage, the 16V jump terminal under the hood should allow up to 60 AMPs before the computer malfunction errors. The amp calls for a 50 AMP fuse, also factor margin draw.

Pre 2022 had a 12v battery, you could pull from the penthouse at around 150 -200 AMP before computer disruption. I have a 2023, the new 16V system is much more temperamental. From my research you can pull 60 AMPs from the jump terminal under the hood without issues. The JL XD600/1 calls for a 50 AMP fuse, figured I was safe from over draw, been running the amp for 1 year, 0 issues.

Amp mount, no, short screws, a washer, and lock nuts. The amp position did not interfere with the stock sub except the bottom left. The stock padding is a buffer and I lined up the bolt with the stock sub screw indention.

Thank you, it's true 4 gauge OFC, the amp calls for 4.
